Gavin Gibson is a 2026 DB to know out of North Carolina who flashed some good things at the Concord Prospect Camp. He’s considered a Top 50 defensive back by our NC site in a talent-rich state. Although he didn’t run the 40, Gibson’s athleticism was proven with a 4.47 shuttle time and a 9.5-foot broad jump. He has good length and size with the potential to slide back to safety at the next level. Gibson hasn’t posted any offers to date, but is definitely someone that D2 programs should be checking out.

While he played a limited role for Independence last season, Gibson was excellent in limited reps. He has good length at corner and since focusing fully on that side of the ball his technique has improved. He’ll have plenty of opportunities against a great schedule to improve his stock and raise the bar as a senior.

Gavin was easily the best defensive back in attendance here in my opinion. In the majority of the 1 on 1 reps I saw with him, Gavin showed good patience and didn’t panic on a variety of routes in coverage. I liked Gavin’s footwork and he showed a good explosion coming out of his backpedal in coverage. Gavin also showed some good speed and nice technique in his 40-timed reps and on the 5-10-5 shuttle run drills. We had him on the wait list wanting to see more from him, and he will be in consideration to be added to our rankings in the next update.
