This is one of my pound the table athletes. One of the athletes I am confident has traits that will translate to the next level. Garrison is an explosive athlete at CB. He has dominant athlete traits needed for the position. Garrison can turn and run deep downfield with speed receivers. His feet, balance, and change of direction allow him to close on plays in front of him or stick with his man on short/intermediate routes. The senior knows how to create havoc at the catch point without being penalized as well. He has piled up the PBUs and as his career went on we saw many of those turn into INTs. Codde is a long athlete as well, and that gives him a bit of a cushion to take risks. His recovery speed also allows him to go for the big plays while still being able to recover. Don’t sleep on the stud CB.

Stats: 9 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 FF, 2 INTsrnThe senior CB has long been one of our favorite athletes in the Class of 2024. In the offseason, Codde has dominated in the athletic testing of the camps circuit. During the season he has put the talent on display. Friday night was no different. Codde stepped up instantly with a quick INT to start the game. He corralled the overthrow and made a solid return. Later in the game, Garrison chased down a deep pass for his second INT. The senior really took a step forward in his ball skills. Turning last year’s PBUs into INTs this year. The senior is very quick footed and twitchy overall. He can flip his hips, change direction, accelerate quickly all to keep up with WRs. He is a need to know prospect in the Class of 2024.

Stats: 7 Tackles, 2 PBUs, 1 INTrnOne of the state’s best cornerbacks stepped up big in the showdown with Middleton. The senior once again dominated in zone coverage. His recognition skills paired with his burst and agility always gives him the ability to be in position to make plays. His speed allows him to run deep with receivers, and his hips unlock, flip, and turn so fluidly and quickly. The standout senior possesses a complete game at cornerback, including run stopping talents. Garrison is aggressive when he reads run, and will fight through blocks to get to the ball carrier. He is a very reliable tackler in space too. I believe the very well rounded CB can play at a D1 level if he wants to. He plays with a lot of traits that you can’t teach.

My final choice is a bit of a dark horse candidate. Talent-wise, Garrison is one of the best cornerbacks in the state. He has proven to have elite athleticism, and it allow shim to shine in zone or man coverage. You might think with such a talented CB on an island he might not see many targets, but Verona is going to field what I believe to be the best CB duo in the state, so the targets are going to come. The reason I call the exceptionally talented CB a dark-horse is because of the production. In 2022, Garrison only had 1 INT. However, Codde is elite at getting his hands on the ball with 12 additional PBUs. If eh can translate those break ups into picks we could be in store fro a historical performance. Don’t miss out on this kid, coaches. He is one of the best in the Class of 2024 at his position.

Since my last mention of Garrison we have seen the Verona CB earn multiple D2 offers. It is easy to see why. He is one of the most athletically gifted athletes in the state. That athleticism allows him to bait the QB with his positioning. Also, because he plays a lot of zone Codde is able to have his eyes in the backfield and quickly react to short passes in front of him or rush attempts off the edge. The 5’10” 165 lbs CB is a reliable tackler on the edge and in space. I can’t wait to see how his game has developed this fall if I don’t cross paths with him this summer.

A junior has really bumped his stock this offseason is the Verona DB. Garrison has impressed me on tape. He plays with next level athleticism and explosiveness. We recently got verification of that explosiveness at the WFCA combine. Garrison posted a 40 yard dash of 4.57, 38.5″ vertical, 9’11.5″ broad jump, 7.12 L-Drill, and a 4.21 5-10-5. On tape, Codde is a menace at the catch point. He picked off one pass, and batted away an outstanding 12 passes. His play recognition/diagnosis makes his explosiveness and range even more dangerous because he plays a step ahead mentally. The CB can also be relied on to make open field tackles. You can trust Garrison out on an island against even the top WRs in WI. Garrison continues his climb up the rankings. Give his highlights a look.

The Verona junior has a great shot at coming into the Showcase and having the most dominant performance in the testing portion. He reportedly runs in the 4.4s and jumps out of the gym. I will be keying on him to see that next level athleticism first hand. The quick twitch athlete carries those traits over to the field. He can change directions on a dime, reacts quickly to his receiver’s movements, and is active at the catch point. All traits that should jump out in the one on ones. Expect to hear about this kid more on Saturday.

The 5’10” 165 lbs CB isn’t the biggest, but Garrison has steadily improved his game over his HS career. To the point where he now holds a Top 10 ranking at his position. Garrison is a high IQ CB out on the boundary. He recognizes routes quickly, as well as things going on around him during the play. That allows him to come off his man to make a play outside of his assignment. Garrison also has the speed needed to run with receivers or cover ground in zone coverage. The CB also does a great job of getting his hands on the ball. He piled up double digit PBUs last fall while also grabbing some INTs. Don’t sleep on the CB.
