About Delvecchio
Expert Analysis
Cooper Morreale | Prep Redzone Scout
Deuce Alston, a Kentucky commit, has been one of the state’s top backs over the last few seasons. He’ll present Hillcrest’s run defense with some big challenges.
“At 6’0 180, Alston is explosive out of the backfield- he does a great job waiting for blocks to develop and has the acceleration and elusiveness to quickly turn upfield, make defenders miss, and rack up big plays on the ground. Alston is highly elusive, but also has great contact balance- he can play through defenders and constantly finds ways to shed off away tacklers.
Alston is just as productive on passing downs- he’s a consistent option for his quarterback underneath who quickly finds ways to get open and has a reliable set of hands.“
Alston is a huge threat out of the backfield that Hillcrest will have to account for. He can beat defenses in so many different ways. I’m excited to see how he’ll perform this week-he’s been off to a great start this fall.

Delvecchio Alston II has been really reliable out of the backfield for Hewitt Trussville’s offense the last two seasons where he’s provided a ton of production. Alston has a great burst of acceleration and speed, and when you pair that with how he patiently maneuvers around the field it makes him a consistent threat. Alston had a big season last fall where he ended up totaling 43 carries for 347 yards and 3 touchdowns. It was impressive seeing what he was capable of doing off of limited carries, next season when he has a more prominent role in their offense he’s definitely going to take over. Keep an eye out for him in the recruiting world as well- Alston recently picked up an offer from Austin Peay and is sure to add more soon!

Delvecchio Alston is an electrifying running back known for his explosive playmaking ability, shiftiness, and exceptional vision- what he’s going to do for Hewitt Trussville going forward is going to be real exciting. Alston has very impressive acceleration and possesses the burst to quickly hit holes and break into the open field, leaving defenders in the dust. In addition to that, Alston has a lot of great moves he can make when engaging with defenders- it doesn’t matter if he’s making a quick cut, spin move, or juke, Alston finds ways to break away from tacklers very easily. In addition to the finesse of his running style, Alston also plays with a ton of toughness and physicality- often on film he’s shown running people over and powering through defenders to gain every possible yard available. Alston is a playmaker in every sense of the word, and is a player were all going to need to watch as he heads into his sophomore year and beyond!
