Expert Analysis
Kevin Spencer | Prep Redzone Scout
Whelan, playing linebacker, showed a gritty and resilient performance against some strong offensive competition, demonstrating toughness throughout the weekend. Despite having his hands full on both Saturday and Sunday, he stayed engaged and competed well in challenging situations. Whelan did a solid job making some good tackles and limited extra yardage in his area by wrapping up effectively and maintaining good awareness. His effort and physicality stood out, and while he faced consistent pressure, he proved capable of holding his ground and contributing positively on the defensive side.

. A late add to the Region 3 roster, he was a tackling machine throughout the weekend. At 6-foot and 205 pounds, he showed the size and ability to play any of the three LB positions, but primarily lined up as an OLB. In Region 3’s consolation game loss to Region 1, Whelan was a bright spot on defense. By my count he was in on over 10 tackles, despite the lopsided loss. The younger brother of All-State 2028 ATH
