Montgomery has looked good early with a quick first step and good power up front. You can tell he’s worked on his frame, and the added strength is helping round out his game. He’s getting good drive in the running game and has held up well in pass pro when asked to sit back and protect. He also strikes me as a smart player who understands the scheme and what they’re trying to accomplish up front, which has helped him play fast and confidently.

My final offensive lineman to watch in Lexington this upcoming season is Matthew Montgomery Matthew Montgomery 6'1" | 230 lbs | OL Lexington Christian | 2028 State KY . Montgomery lines up at right guard where he is a very reliable run blocker. He plays with a high motor, showing the ability to pull and get out in the open field with a sense of urgency to pick up blocks. Montgomery has also shown a powerful initial punch which he is able to use to knock defenders off balance with ease. In pass protection, Montgomery gets into his pass sets quickly and has shown the ability to fight with his hands to defeat

Montgomery is a good interior offensive lineman who moves well for the position. He has a good first step and is fairly nimble, allowing him to get out in front as a lead blocker and make plays in space. He’s comfortable on the move and looks to finish blocks with authority, often trying to bury the defender he comes across. The aggression and physical mentality stand out on film. I like the edge he plays with, and I think once his frame continues to develop, he’ll really start to flourish up front and end up as a steal for the right program.
