Anderson | 2027 StateOH
, who is Notre Dame’s newest verbal commitment in the Class of 2027, has immense potential and it shows on tape. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound cornerback can break on the ball, undercut routes and times the ball well with his hands to deflect pass. Alston can play both man and zone, and played a huge role on Anderson’s highly-successful season.
Alston started off his junior season with a bang. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect recorded one pass deflection and one interception in Anderson’s big 52-10 win over Cooper (Ky.). Alston is a four-star prospect and regarded as a top-three prospect in the 2027 Class for Ohio for good reason, and expect him to make big plays all season long for the Raptors.
Alston showcased his athleticism Thursday night in the wicked wind and snow. Late in the game, he undercut a slant route to pick the ball off in the Anderson red zone, giving his team the ball back down 7. His hip fluidity is great, and he can play on any ball thrown his way. It may not have been the result Alston wanted to see, but it was his individual play late in crunch time that gave Anderson a shot to win a state championship.
Alston is one of the most technically refined high school football players I have seen recently. As a sophomore, he looks like he could be playing on Saturdays already. He is very reactive to the ball but isn’t trigger-happy to rush individual plays or to be caught out of place. Alston is very smart and can lurk in a way that doesn’t raise alarms to quarterbacks. He doesn’t look like he does much on the field at times, but he covers so much space and commands a ton of respect from opposing offenses. Alston will be one of the best players in Canton this weekend, and many need to know his name before Thursday’s matchup vs Avon.
Alston put together a fantastic freshman season on a team that made it to the division 2 final four. His play landed him at the top of our 2027 overall rankings. He lined up at cornerback for the Raptors. He has the loose hips and athleticism that allows him to flip his hips and change direction with ease. Ashton, who goes by “Ace”, has an explosive break and is able to get downhill with ease. While many “play the ball”, Alston “attacks it” when it’s in the air. He’s comfortable playing in space. If he can continue to get bigger and stronger and add a press man element to his game, he’ll have the full package. It’s easy to see why P4’s have taken notice and he’s earned offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Oregon among others.
-Very confident young cornerback who people in the greater Cincinnati-area refer to as “Ace Island” because of his ability to play solo man-to-man coverage on the outside
– Plays 7v7 with the famed Midwest Boom program based out of Illinois. Can play wide receiver at a high level too, including being lined up in the slot where he uses good speed and quickness up the seem
– Will be off to Anderson High School in the fall to start his high school career, but has already started on the recruiting trail. In April alone, he visited Cincinnati, Tennessee, West Virginia and Marshall with plans for a west coast swing this month
