AJ Burnette AJ Burnette 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Desert Edge | 2025 State AZ , now playing on an uber-talented Desert Edge roster that’s fresh off a trip to the 5A State Championship Game, is an imposing presence on the field at a very bulky 6’2″ 225 lbs. He plays strong but moves smooth and can really set the tone for a defense with his toughness. Whether its coming off the edge to attack the quarterback or playing in the heart of the defense and following the flow of the play, Burnette has shown the ability to do it all. Coming off a season with eight hurries and five tackles for loss, he’s going to find plenty of creative ways to torment his opponents in 2024. Burnette is a player you don’t want to miss as Desert Edge makes another run for a ring.

When AJ Burnette AJ Burnette 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Desert Edge | 2025 State AZ gets to the quarterback, he makes sure they really feel it. An incredibly physical player who will make an impact on the desert edge defense, he’s effective against both the pass and the run. Burnette’s attack against the run is calm, refined, and mature as he uses his long arms and good strength to stand linemen up at arm’s length, peeking into the backfield to see where the play is headed. He’s able to shed those blocks quickly and shows some impressive speed to help on the outside when he needs to. When the quarterback drops back to pass, Burnette has a deep bag of tricks to pull from as far as pass rushing moves. Transferring from Canyon View, Burnette could see his recruitment heat up once he takes the field for a talented Scorpions team trying to make it back to the state championship game.
