is a difference-maker at tight end. I do not talk about tight ends much, but Schomp deserves the recognition. He is a monster in the passing game. He can be used all over the field in different route concepts. He has good hands and uses them well when in traffic to catch the ball. Schomp also is a good inline blocker, but he could get better at it at the next level. Schomp finally has great size standing 6’6 inches tall. He recently visited Lehigh University and could get interest from other colleges as well.

is rising up our rankings and will end up at least at the FCS level come 2024. He has a number of offers already and has been putting up eye popping numbers at a few showcases recently. One of our fastest risers and top tight ends in the state, he has made quite the impression with

A new addition to the tight-end rankings, debuting inside the top five at his position. That’s tough to do, especially this late into the process of identifying talent. This kid was a clear miss on my part, as I only recently heard of the Cedar Crest star after some stellar camp performances throughout the offseason. His top-five rank is a projection of future things to come, as we fully expect more FCS programs to pull the trigger sooner rather than later. Sacred Heart and Colgate have done so recently, extending offers to the 6’6 tight end. I imagine any programs recruiting in and around Cedar Crest will fall in love with Schomp after the first three games of his senior campaign. He’s stacked up against some premier talent in this group. We’ll see if his rank holds true in November.

Not sure why this is, but I seem to see Pennsylvania produce the most tight ends when I am at events. The PSR Showcase was more of the same. Schomp is blessed with an enormous frame. He knows how to beat press coverage, particularly when a smaller defensive back is matched upon him. Schomp also wins at the top of his routes, breaking them off suddenly and using his height advantage to come down with the ball.

Schomp was probably the best tight end from Saturday’s bunch. He has FBS size and build while also showing glimpses of FBS skill and athleticism. What separated this 6’6″ tower from both his competition and contemporaries was the way he manages to win at the top of his routes. Sharp, sudden breaks gave him just enough of an edge to get open when he was matched up against quicker, faster defenders. During one spin I watched Schomp made a great move. The defender was pressing him while Schomp was running a vertical route. To beat the press and throw off the defender’s leverage, Schomp swiped the jam away from his route’s path, which closed the DB’s shoulder and put him out of position, as Schomp easily got open and scored.
