Continue ReadingThis article is an update on the Lancaster-Lebanon League after the 1st month of the football season. I broke down each section below with the favorite to win the section, break-out team, top prospects, and breakout players.
Section 1:
Section 1 Standings
Team | Overall Record | League Record |
Cedar Crest | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Wilson | 2-2 | 1-0 |
Hempfield | 2-2 | 1-0 |
Manheim Township | 4-0 | 0-0 |
McCaskey | 1-3 | 0-1 |
Reading | 1-3 | 0-1 |
Penn Manor | 0-4 | 0-1 |
Favorite to win the section: Manheim Township. Manheim Township has played fantastic football on the year so far. 4-0 record including beating legit teams like Harrisburg and Spring-Ford on the year. Manheim Township looks like the favorite to win the section and possibly a district championship as well.
Break out Team: Cedar Crest. I am not shocked that they started 4-0 on the year because I really like the talent they have on the team, but it has been the dominant fashion of the 4-0 start has been impressive. Cedar Crest looks like they are going to have a hugely successful season and it would not surprise me at all if they win a game in the playoffs.
Top Prospects:
Highlights
Hayden Johnson Hayden Johnson 5'10" | 190 lbs | LB Trinity | 2027 PA Manheim Township. I could probably put the entire Manheim Township football team, but I am just going to include their 3-year starter at quarterback. Johnson has been darn right filthy on the year. He has been so dominant on the year. He and Landon Kennel Landon Kennel 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Manheim Township | 2024 State PA are a great 1-2 punch at QB and WR. Super impressive through 4 games.
Highlights
Jackson Custer Jackson Custer 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Cedar Crest | 2025 State PA Cedar Crest. The other 4-0 team in the section has been led by Junior quarterback Jackson Custer Jackson Custer 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Cedar Crest | 2025 State PA . Custer has been a good team for the year. The dual-threat QB can run it and throw it with the best QBs in the area. Custer is a legit player and is showing how talented he is after 4 weeks.
Highlights
Aiden Schomp Aiden Schomp 6'6" | 230 lbs | TE Cedar Crest | 2024 State PA Cedar Crest. The massive tight end has not disappointed on the year with being a devastating blocker and a pass catcher. Schomp is a talented player who should get plenty of College Football looks coming up. The good thing about Schomp is his size standing 6’6″ inches and he uses that size well to catch the ball.
Deyvid Palepale Deyvid Palepale 6'3" | 300 lbs | DL Manheim Township | 2024 State PA Hempfield. Palepale has been a bright spot on an otherwise 2-2 start to the season for Hempfield. The USC commit has continued to be a dominant player for Hempfield during the year. Palepale should continue to have a strong year for Hempfield.
Break out players:
Tommy Hunsicker Tommy Hunsicker QB Wilson | 2024 State PA Wilson. Hunsicker has really played well for Wilson despite their 2-2 start on the year. Hunsicker has really blossomed in his 2nd year as a starting quarterback and I expect he will continue to play well for Wilson this year. He deserves recognition as a breakout player.
Xavier Beatty
Xavier Beatty
Xavier Beatty Reading. Beatty has been an impressive player for Reading and deserves some love for the start of his Junior Year. Beatty plays wide receiver, and defensive back and is a kickoff returner. I saw him return a kickoff for a touchdown against Muhlenberg and it changed the entire completion of the game. He also has contributed on offense and as a defensive back. Keep an eye out for this prospect.
Highlights
Christian Weaber Christian Weaber 6'0" | 270 lbs | OL Cedar Crest | 2024 State PA Cedar Crest. Weaber has been a dominant offensive lineman for Cedar Crest, so he gets the recognition for being a breakout player. Weaber has helped propel the Cedar Crest offensive to heights this year after they have scored a ton of points. He is a player to follow the rest of the year.
Section 2:
Section 2 Standings
Team | Overall Record | League Record |
Exeter | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Conestoga Valley | 3-1 | 1-0 |
Muhlenberg | 1-3 | 1-0 |
Manheim Central | 3-1 | 0-0 |
Governor Mifflin | 2-2 | 0-1 |
Warwick | 1-3 | 0-1 |
Lebanon | 0-4 | 0-1 |
Favorite to win the section. Manheim Central. I think you could say Exeter is the favorite as they have been dominant on the year, but Manheim Central is a Senior-Laden team that still should be the favorite to win the section. Led by Zac Hahn Zac Hahn 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Manheim Central | 2024 State PA , Aaron Enterline Aaron Enterline 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Manheim Central | 2024 State PA , and Brycen Armold Brycen Armold 5'7" | 180 lbs | RB Manheim Central | 2024 State PA the trio has been as well as advertised this year.
Break out team. Conestoga Valley. Conestoga Valley has been very good on the season. Starting 3-1 on the year Conestoga Valley has shown they are going to be a tough out on the year in Section 2.
Top Prospects:
Jayden Zandier Jayden Zandier 6'1" | 175 lbs | ATH Exeter Township | 2025 State PA Exeter. Most people know who his brother is Zack Zandier Zack Zandier 6'5" | 230 lbs | TE Exeter | 2024 State PA the 6’6″ tight end who is going to Coastal Carolina next year, but not to be overshadowed is his brother Jayden. Loaded at wide receiver Exeter had moved him to running back as long as wide receiver. Last Friday night against Governor Mifflin he had 11 carries for 156 yards rushing, 2 rushing touchdowns, and 1 touchdown catch for 56 yards. He had been a difference-maker in the year.
Aaron Enterline Aaron Enterline 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Manheim Central | 2024 State PA Manheim Central. Enterline is an absolute monster at wide receiver for Manheim Central. The kid made one of the best catches I ever saw when he jumped over 3 defenders against Smyrna to catch the game-winning touchdown. He is one of the best wide receivers in District 3 and it blows my mind why he does not have many College Football offers yet. I expect that will happen soon.
Nathan Pashley Nathan Pashley 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Exeter | 2024 State PA
Nathan Pashley Nathan Pashley 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Exeter | 2024 State PA
Nathan Pashley Nathan Pashley 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Exeter | 2024 State PA Exeter. The returning all-league player is a good 2-way player who plays wide receiver and defensive back for Exeter. He is a good player that contributes on both sides of the ball. He recently picked up an offer from Albright College.
Highlights
Zac Hahn Zac Hahn 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Manheim Central | 2024 State PA Manheim Central. Han is in his 2nd year as the starting quarterback for Manheim Central. He is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback. He got hurt against Snyrna in week 2 but returned the last two weeks to play. I expect Hahn to play at the FCS level when he is done playing.
Zack Zandier Zack Zandier 6'5" | 230 lbs | TE Exeter | 2024 State PA Exeter. I featured the younger brother earlier, so I need the feature the older brother as well. Zandier is a devastating blocker and receiver at tight in for Exeter. He is going to Coastal Carolina and I can not wait until he plays there to see his progress.
Kabine Toure Kabine Toure 6'2" | 230 lbs | DL Governor Mifflin | 2024 State PA Governor Mifflin. Toure is a good defensive lineman for Mifflin. He does a nice job engaging with offensive linemen and pushing a pile back into the offensive backfield.
Break out players:
Logan Wegman Logan Wegman 6'5" | 260 lbs | DL Exeter Township | 2025 State PA Exeter. Wegman has been a big part of Exeter’s success this season. He is a dominant offensive and defensive lineman who has great size for both positions. He plays right tackle and defensive line for Exeter. The Junior is playing at a high level and is a key cog to the Exeter team.
Jayden Johnson
Jayden Johnson
Jayden Johnson Conestoga Valley. Johnson has been an absolute monster at running back for Conestoga Valley. On Friday against Warwick Johnson rushed for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns. He is a legit running back and every time he touches the ball he has a chance to go to the end zone. Johnson is a super impressive player.
Michael Miller Michael Miller 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Muhlenberg | 2026 State PA Muhlenberg. My other football job is I am part of the Muhlenberg Football radio broadcast, so I see Michael Miller Michael Miller 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Muhlenberg | 2026 State PA player every week. Miller is a dynamic player and anytime he touches the ball he can take it to the end zone. In the last two weeks, he scored on big plays. Miller is a name to track in the future.
Section 3:
Section 3 Standings
Team | Overall Record | League Record |
Twin Valley | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Ephrata | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Garden Spot | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Fleetwood | 2-2 | 0-1 |
Daniel Boone | 1-3 | 0-1 |
Solanco | 1-3 | 0-1 |
Elizabethtown | 0-4 | 0-0 |
Favorite to win the section: Twin Valley. With all apologies to Ephrata and their 4-0 start Twin Valley looks like the favorite to win the section. They are an absolutely loaded team with two good running backs in Evan Johnson Evan Johnson 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Pine-Richland | 2024 State PA , and Drew Engle Drew Engle 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Twin Valley | 2026 State PA . Plus a dominant offensive line and a good quarterback in Evan Myers Evan Myers 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB Twin Valley | 2025 State PA .
Break out team: Garden Spot. Garden Spot was good last year but has been more dominant this year in their 4-0 start on the year. They along with Ephrata and Twin Valley should have a good chance at winning the section.
Top prospects:
Highlights
Quintin Pfautz Quintin Pfautz 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB Ephrata | 2024 State PA Ephrata. Pfautz is a talented player for Ephrata. He plays both linebacker and tight end. He has a good combination of speed, strength, and size. Pfautz is someone to keep an eye on going forward as he should get plenty of College Football offers.
Highlights
Paul McClune Paul McClune 6'4" | 255 lbs | OL Twin Valley | 2024 State PA Twin Valley. McClune is an absolute stud at the offensive line for Twin Valley. He has great size and strength to play offensive line. He is someone that should get some College Football offers in the future.
Evan Johnson Evan Johnson 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Pine-Richland | 2024 State PA Twin Valley. Getting the benefit of running behind McClune and the rest of the Twin Valley offensive line is a huge benefit for Evan Johnson Evan Johnson 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Pine-Richland | 2024 State PA . Johnson though takes it to another level with his electric ability to make a big play. If you give him a crease he will take advantage of it and make a big play. He is especially lethal in the open field when he runs by defenders. Johnson is a name to check out going forward.
Czion Brickle Czion Brickle 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Fleetwood | 2024 State PA Fleetwood. Another difference-maker at running back. Brickle is a legit athlete and can make people miss in space. He rushed for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns this week. Brickle recently picked up an offer from Waynesboro University. Brickle should pick up some more offers coming up.
Highlights
Jack Riffle Jack Riffle 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Fleetwood | 2024 State PA Fleetwood. Riffle is a good player for Fleetwood and has been a leader for the program for the last several years. The former Prep Redzone camp stand-out is having a strong Senior year and he should get some College Football looks coming up. The last thing is he posted a video of himself blocking downfield on a long run. Riffle is all heart as a football player and he showed it in that clip.
Break out players:
Drew Engle Drew Engle 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Twin Valley | 2026 State PA Twin Valley. The 2nd part of the 2 headed rushing attack for Twin Valley is Drew Engle Drew Engle 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Twin Valley | 2026 State PA . The Sophomore running back has been equally as good as Evan Johnson Evan Johnson 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Pine-Richland | 2024 State PA . Engle has rushed for an impressive 683 yards over the 1st four weeks. A super impressive performance from the Sophomore running back.
Sam McCracken Sam McCracken 6'1" | 205 lbs | QB Ephrata | 2024 State PA Ephrata. McCracken has played at a very high level for Ephrata this year. He has helped Ephrata to a 4-0 record on the year and is looking to make a run at the section title and possibly break the school’s streak of not making the playoffs this year.
Kye Harting
Kye Harting
Kye Harting Garden Spot. Harting is someone who caught my eye last year as a difference-maker at quarterback. Harting has 467 yards on Friday against Daniel Boone in a 37-9 win. He rushed for 233 yards and threw for 234 yards. Harting might not be the biggest guy, but he is a good player.
Section 4:
Section 4 Standings
Team | Overall Record | League Record |
Wyomissing | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Lampeter-Strasburg | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Elco | 4-0 | 1-0 |
Cocalico | 3-1 | 1-0 |
Donegal | 2-2 | 0-1 |
Octorara | 2-2 | 0-1 |
Berks Catholic | 1-3 | 0-1 |
Favorite to win the section. Wyomissing. Wyomissing has won 38 straight regular-season games but got close to losing to Trinity the other week when they fought back from behind to get the win. I do not see anyone in Section 4 knocking them off in this section.
Break out team: Elco. Elco has started the season 4-0 on the year and looks like they are a dominant team in Section 4. They are led by a Senior running back who keeps putting up impressive rushing numbers every week. Elco should at the very least be competitive in every game and have a good shot at winning 7 or 8 games.
Top Prospects:
Caleb Brewer Caleb Brewer 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Wyomissing | 2024 State PA Wyomissing. For Wyomissing, I could point out a ton of their players, but let’s start with the College Football prospect that is going to Penn State. Brewer is a talented player who is good at both offensive and defensive line for Wyomissing. A talented player and I am excited to see him play at Penn State.
Trenton Wagner Trenton Wagner 5'11" | 150 lbs | QB Lampeter-Strasburg | 2024 State PA Lampeter-Strasburg. The talented Senior quarterback who doubles on defense as a defensive back is a talented player and has helped Lampeter-Strasburg to a 4-0 record on the year.
Jake Williams Jake Williams ATH State PA
Jake Williams Jake Williams ATH State PA
Jake Williams Jake Williams ATH State PA Elco. In Elco’s veer offense, the fullback is the centerpiece of the offense. Williams has led that to another level with his performance so far on the season. He is the leading rusher in the Lancaster-Lebanon league and even rushed for 320 yards in one game. Williams is a legit player who has physical toughness, great vision, and speed to play the position.
Collin Niedrowski Collin Niedrowski 6'0" | 175 lbs | LB Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA Wyomissing Area. Niedrowski makes a difference for Wyomissing on both sides of the ball. At his linebacker position, he is a sure tackle who does a nice job in space, and at full-back, he is a tough and physical runner who is difficult to bring down. Niedrowski is a legit and tough player who should have a good chance at playing college football.
Ryker Jones Ryker Jones 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA Wyomissing Area. I know another Wyomissing player. I understand, but Jones is an absolute monster at linebacker. He missed the 1st 3 games of the year after recovering from a leg injury from last year. Well against Berks Catholic his 1st game back, he was dominant all over the field for Wyomissing. Jones is already committed to Princeton.
Highlights
Sam Steffey Sam Steffey 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Cocalico | 2024 State PA Cocalico. Steffey is a difference-maker at full-back in Cocalico’s veer offense. He is a tough runner between the tackles and also has the speed to break away from defenders. Against Manheim Central, in a week 3 win, he was the best player in the game as he ran over and around Manheim Central.
Breakout players:
Demoj Gray Lampeter-Strasburg. Gray is someone that I saw heat up in the off-season on Twitter and he has carried it over into the season. Gray played wide receiver and defensive back and has been a good player at both on the season. He is someone to keep an eye on and someone who should get some College Football looks.

Favorite to win the section. Lancaster Catholic. Lancaster Catholic lost a good Senior class, but returned several key players. Lancaster Catholic won every game in this Section last year and should be the favorite to win the section again, but Schuylkill Valley and Anneville-Cleona will also have a say in what happens in this section as well.
Break out team. Hamburg. Hamburg looks like a fun and exciting team. Led by Tyler Shuey Tyler Shuey QB Hamburg Area | 2025 State PA Hamburg has been a good team and has been throwing the ball all over the field. They should be a tough out in Section 5.

Highlights
Brandon Way Lancaster Catholic. Way burst onto the scene last year as a Freshman when he started at cornerback for the Crusaders. Now in his Sophomore year, he has picked up returning kicks and playing offense. He is a dynamic player who is capable of scoring every time he touches the ball.
