If he was not the best at his position on the day, Garrett Starry was certainly one of the best linebackers to compete. Starry used his hands to shield and defend inside leverage very well, while using those same hands even better redirecting within 5 yards of scrimmage. What made him so appealing was how well he moved. Starry was able to go backwards and forward with ease, getting to his drops quickly and fluidly. That said, it goes without saying that Starry covers a great deal of ground in a hurry.

Overall, he performed well and seemed to grow as a player during the Showcase. Starry has a ton of potential as a linebacker. He had a strong season for Cedar Crest as a linebacker and has a chance to play at an even higher-level next year. Starry’s instincts and fundamentals are excellent. He should grow as a player even more next year.

He showed this in his film by constantly making plays all over the field. In one clip he intercepted a pass at the goal line and returned it for a touchdown. With the athleticism I see on film, I am excited to see how he does during the combine portion of the showcase.

He does a nice job of reading his keys and attacking downhill. Starry has a chance to have a good sophomore season.
