Nartey, who recently moved from Iona Prep to Suffield Academy for a post-grad year, has picked up a couple of offers since his move but has committed to Columbia. Last year, Nartey was one of the top safety prospects in the CHSFL.

Nartey a standout safety prospect for Iona Prep who was a multi-year starter and has tons of accolades at League/County/State levels is taking a Post-Grad year at Suffield Academy where he will join Jahmir Pitcher who transffered from CBA-Albany to Suffield last season to make up a very impressive New York Safety Duo in the Northeast Prep League.

The senior safety/return specialist had another great season filled with flashy plays. In the championship game against Cardinal Hayes, he was flying all over the field making plays. He showed off incredible speed to break up passes and he forced two fumbles, one of which was an incredible goal line strip. Nartey got noticeably more physical and athletic as a senior. He proved to be one of the state’s top defensive backs.

automatically becomes one of the top DB’s in this league. He has the versatility to make an impact at cornerback or safety. I can see him being the quarterback over the top for this Iona defense. Nartey is a tremendous athlete that can be a ball hawk and a reliable open field tackler.

Oh man, “AD” is back for Iona Prep and he’ll be one of the top defensive backs to watch this season. Nartey collected the fourth most amount of votes for the Preseason Player of the Year Poll. Last year Nartey was great and had a game clinching interception against New Jersey power Don Bosco. Now going into his senior year, I think Nartey will be solid again but also do well in big time matchups. This summer he was a beast at the downstate classic. Nartey was neck and neck with some of the states best WR’s and was winning reps all day long in the burning heat. I think he’ll be a playmaking safety this season for a fast and physical Gaels team. Nartey also had a couple of highlight reel strips and he was causing a bunch of turnovers, I’m expecting much of the same from one of the states top DB’s.

After coming from his championship track meet, Nartey didn’t miss a beat. Although he got off to a slow start, he bounced back in a huge way. His mentality after losing a couple reps was incredible, Nartey became lockdown for a ton of the 1 on 1’s as the day went on. He made plays on the ball and read routes well. His pure speed and his technical skills made him one of the top players out of the group and he was one of the smoothest cornerbacks out of the entire showcase.

One of the better safety prospects headed into the tournament, Nartey showed really solid range and instincts for NY Hustle. Nartey had one of the most impressive pass breakups where his range and ball skill were on display. Nartey was not often targeted and did a good job not falling for QBs attempting to move safeties and defenders with their eyes. A very consistent solid performance.

Last season Nartey slotted in as a starting cornerback for the Gales and he had an excellent first season with Iona Prep. His footwork was very impressive as he thrived with the challenge of facing some of the top receivers in the northeast. Nartey didn’t shy away from the big moment either. Against one of New Jersey’s top teams within Don Bosco, he stepped up and showed his ball skills. He came away with the game sealing interception to lift his team to one of the biggest out of state victories in recent memory by a New York football team. Going into his senior year, I’d like to see Nartey add a little strength to help him against bigger receivers. But expect the combination of Nartey’s athleticism and IQ to help elevate him into one of the top defensive backs in the NYCHSFL this season.
