Expert Analysis
Brendan Mankarious | Prep Redzone Scout
Based on the litany of college offers already in-hand, Kevin Roig has the immense potential to become a big-time player. Not exactly a football hot bed, the New Hampshire native showed to be a hard route runner, who does so behind his pads. An area to improve might be how he uses his landmarks when route running and sharpening up his cuts. That withstanding, I was most impressed with his rare combination of speed and power that he generates when running

Roig is another top WR the North East is gatekeeping. The future Suffield Academy prospect had an outstanding weekend at The Rize. He showcased an elite frame along with good hands, and elite footwork, He was able to get low on his cuts, and gained elite separation by dropping his hips at the top of his routes.

- Roig was a name I had circled entering the event, and he wore #134. Attending Suffield Academy in the fall, he showed good reach, with an impressive 9’0″ broad jump.
He showed a quick burst off the line, and used his hands well through 7v7 and 1v1 Reps. I liked his vision and ability to track the ball in over the shoulder reps. Physical quick WR, who showcased good intangibles this past weekend.

Kevin Roig has good size, ability, hands, route running, and ability to make plays with the ball in his hands. He is a player who is a go-to type of talent and is someone who can help change the game in a second. He is a dude on the gridiron, and I believe he will make someone noise at the “RIZE” in New Jersey!

New E
arrived at the Prep Red Zone NEXT Showcase with an impressive, well-developed frame for a young wide receiver. At 6’1″ and 190 pounds, he already possesses the size and strength that college coaches look for in a boundary X-receiver or big slot. He is big, strong, and physical through contact, showing the ability to absorb hits without losing focus or body control. His frame suggests he can add another 15-20 pounds naturally while maintaining his quickness. Roig was one of the cleanest route-runners on the field during the showcase. He displayed sharp, crisp cuts with excellent footwork and very good change-of-direction ability for his size. His routes were precise — he attacked the stem, dropped his hips effectively, and accelerated out of breaks. He showed a mature understanding of how to use his body to create separation, particularly on in-breaking routes and back-shoulder fades. This was arguably the most impressive part of Roig’s performance. Roig attacked the football with confidence and rarely dropped passes that hit his hands.
Roig played with a noticeable physical edge. He was willing to work through traffic, fight for positioning on the boundary, and compete every single rep. He did not shy away from contact after the catch and showed good balance and strength

New E
was a clear standout at the Prep Red Zone NEXT Showcase. His combination of size, physicality, route precision, and reliable hands in contested situations separated him from many of his peers. For a player his age and size, the polish in his game is advanced. He looked like a wide receiver who already understands how to win at the catch point — a trait that translates very well to the college level.

Kevin was my pick for MVP among the wide receivers—and he’s a tight end. Making a five-hour drive from New Hampshire the night before, he showed up ready to compete and delivered a high-level performance that made the trip more than worth it. With impressive downfield speed and a big frame that gives quarterbacks a reliable target, Kevin showed great instincts, adjusting on the fly to secure tough catches. As he continues to add more size, there’s no doubt he’s going to enter the conversation as one of the top tight ends in the Northeast.
