To wrap up our top five ATH in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky, I have Nash Whelan Nash Whelan 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Lexington Christian | 2028 State KY . Whelan stepped in at quarterback this season where he had a strong year as a passer, showing impressive arm strength and accuracy. As a sophomore, he completed 170/259 passes for 2,526 yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 15 games. He also showed tremendous dual threat ability, leading his team in rushing with 156 carries for 1,047 yards and 16 touchdowns. Nash also made an impact on defense as a defensive back, finishing the year with 41 tackles, six tackles for loss, and an interception. Whelan has received some college interest and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up heading into his junior year.

Nash Whelan Nash Whelan 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Lexington Christian | 2028 State KY is another two-way sophomore at LCA who has stood out to us. He is also very dangerous as a ball carrier, leading his team in rushing this season with 135 carries for 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns. He led the Eagles to an impressive Week 7 win over WEB DuBois, completing 12/19 passes for 254 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Nash Whelan Nash Whelan 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Lexington Christian | 2028 State KY unfortunately had his freshman year cut short due to injury but he was very impressive when on the field. On defense, Whelan plays in a strong safety/outside linebacker role where he is very reliable against the run. He does a great job of reading the play quickly then using his speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle. Nash finished last season with 22 tackles and three tackles for loss in six games. He has also been taking snaps at quarterback this offseason and has looked impressive in workout videos I’ve seen. Whelan will definitely be a player to keep an eye on when he returns to the field this season.
