is going to be one of the more experienced players, not just in Class 2A-1 but in the state this season. DeBusk has been starting since his freshman season and he’s been a one-man wrecking crew ever since. He comes into this season with well over 300 tackles in his career and with another solid season, he could be over 450 tackles for his career by the end of this season. DeBusk will also be a big key to bringing along some of those new faces on this Longhorn defense. In 2024, we also saw a new element to his game as he became a short yardage specialist at running back. He was one of the team’s leaders in rushing touchdowns with ten.

is going to be a three-year starter for the Longhorn defense coming into this season. This is a Jones defense that has to replace the majority of their starters but the fact that DeBusk is returning will give them a boost. Not only in terms of production but he should be able to help the new starters just from an experience standpoint because he’s been in so many games and different situations. Last season, DeBusk finished his sophomore season with nearly 150 tackles on the year. This season, we expect his production to go up and he’s going to definitely be one of the top linebackers in Class 2A-1 and in the state overall.

has been on our radar since his freshman season. The Longhorn standout made a ton of plays during his freshman season and then continued to elevate his game last fall as a sophomore. When we watched DeBusk in person last season or on film, the biggest thing that stood out to us was how he did not look like he was a sophomore. And that makes sense because he’s played a lot of football at this point and there isn’t much that he hasn’t seen. DeBusk is a good traditional linebacker that has a high on-field IQ and because of that, he plays with great instincts.

was a player that we covered around this time last year. He was coming off a breakout season as a freshman and when we turned the film on from his sophomore season, we were blown away. The leap that DeBusk made was the first thing that jumped off the screen. As a freshman, DeBusk looked like a natural out there and was reading and reacting. This season, the Jones standout still has those same gifts but his on-field IQ has gone up, making him more dangerous at the linebacker position. DeBusk is your prototypical middle linebacker at the next level. He’s a hard hitter and we like the size that he plays with. It’s crazy to think that he still has two more years of high school. We’re not sure what the tackle record is at Jones but DeBusk will threaten it fairly soon. In addition to his size and strength, it also looks like DeBusk has improved his quickness and can get from Point A to Point B in a hurry. The film was impressive and DeBusk is certainly going to be a linebacker to watch in the state’s 2026 class. In the last decade, the Longhorns have been known for studs on offense but they have a defensive star with DeBusk. Moving forward, there isn’t much to critique. We just can’t wait to see what kind of improvement the Jones linebacker has from 2023 to 2024 when this fall rolls around.Access all of Prep Redzone

continues to be a name to watch in the state’s 2026 class. He was one of the first linebackers in this class that we started paying attention to. He was a breakout star during his freshman season with over 100 tackles. And just like last season, DeBusk has really impressed us with his ability to elevate his game against their toughest opponents. Not only is he producing week to week but he’s taking his game up a notch against the best competition. One thing that also stands out to us about the Jones standout this fall is his ability to step back in pass coverage. He has a few plays on film from this fall that we didn’t see from him last year. He continues to get better and better.
