Insight Into The Latest NE Class of 2027 Rankings Update

The Prep Redzone Nebraska 2027 rankings have been posted after a longgg evaluation period and a ton of deliberation. In this update, the rankings list grew from 250 to 400, with some shake-ups in the Top 20, including a new member of the top five.   Before I introduce the new top five, I wanted to mention not to panic if you don't see yourself listed in our rankings or watchlist, since it's still early in the summer cycle. I fully expect more players to emerge and boost their stock, so these rankings will likely change once more before the official start of the season. The biggest factor in our evaluation is watching your film from the previous season, so if you don't have film available or an updated tape, that is likely why you didn't make the rankings or may have slid down since the previous update. Along with game film, we look at offseason training, performances at showcases/camps, standout performances in 7v7, new offers, results from other sports (wrestling, T&F, etc), and anything that shows improvement from the previous season. Even with us doing our due diligence, there are still names that will slip under our radar, so feel free to reach out with your tape and info if you would like to be added in the next update.   With that, here is the updated top five in the latest update, along with the prospects that round out the top 10 and the ones who have announced their commitments:   Top 5:   Millard South's newest QB, [player_tooltip player_id='426566' first='Trae' last='Taylor'], claimed the top spot over his fellow Nebraska commit, Pittman, who had held on to the #1 spot since our initial '27 rankings release. Trae entered the Nebraska high school scene with a ton of (warranted) hype as he brings elite film and a pledge to the Huskers to an already loaded Millard South squad looking to complete a three-peat. When you cut on the tape, you see a very smart quarterback who has the tools to elevate his offense with his arm talent and ability to do damage on the ground. He's elevated his game this offseason with head-turning performances at national events like the Elite 11, where he earned the Rivals MVP, and by competing in 7v7 tournaments featuring some of the top players in the country. With his recruitment locked down, Trae has been able to fully dial in on his development, and it has paid off this offseason.   Safety [player_tooltip player_id='422820' first='Tory' last='Pittman III'] made a huge splash as he joined the talented Millard North Mustangs and will form one of the top safety duos in the state. Pittman emerged as one of the top safety prospects in the nation and has become a key part of the Huskers' 2027 class since his commitment. Pittman has not only shown an elite skillset at safety but is also a threat to make plays on offense and special teams.   Omaha Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='487734' first='Braylen' last='Warren'] is back, hoping to cap off his tremendous prep career with a state championship for the Warriors. Despite already being committed to Missouri, Braylen has not let complacency set in as he's attacked the offseason full force to continue fine-tuning his game. Warren also competed at the Elite 11 showcase, where he showcased his elite arm talent and established himself as one of the top QBs in the country. With all the physical and mental tools, along with a strong supporting cast, this could be a monster season for Braylen and the Warriors.   Millard North's [player_tooltip player_id='1085067' first='Matt' last='Erickson'] is our third in-state Husker commit landing inside the top five of our updated rankings. Erickson is a beast in the trenches with the type of measurables that next-level coaches covet at 6'8" and 315 pounds. Matt has decided to follow in the family footsteps as he announced his commitment to the hometown Huskers. With Erickson at tackle, the Mustang offense can rest assured that their main enforcer up front can help lead the charge against the run and keep his QB's jersey clean in pass protection.   Skutt Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='1086182' first='Wyatt' last='Liebentritt'] continues to make his way up the rankings as he jumps into the top five. Liebentritt has had a busy offseason, showcasing his elite athleticism at national events, visiting several programs, and eventually announcing his commitment to play Big Ten ball for Coach Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Wyatt enters the 2026 season as one of the top game-breakers in Class B and will be relied on heavily by the Sky Hawks as they look to return to Memorial Stadium.
