About Xander
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I'm a low-pad, explosive interior lineman who wins reps with leverage and a violent first step. I move my feet to put my body in position, fire off the ball with intent, and finish blocks through the whistle. As a center I take ownership of the line — clean snaps, communication, and physicality on every play. I love contact and I love the game. Every rep is to only rep.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
Competitive, accountable, and ready to work. I show up every day with the mindset that I'm earning my spot — in the weight room, in the film room, and on the field. I lead by example, hold my teammates to a standard, and never back down from a rep. Football is a game I love and I play it that way.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Multi-sport athlete: played high school baseball and active Recreational basketball player. Fluent in Spanish. Tutor teammates in academics and serve as a mentor on the team. Actively involved in my church youth group and planning to serve a two-year LDS mission. Football fits into a life built around family, faith, teammates, and the discipline to commit to things bigger than myself.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I lead by example, not by announcement. During team fundraisers, I offered to work in exchange for donations rather than just asking for them. I worked over 60 hours for friends and neighbors. Last season I began praying alone in the end zone before games — by the end of the year, every player on the team was praying with me. I'd rather earn it and let my actions speak.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Last year my coaches moved me from middle linebacker to center. I didn't want to leave linebacker, but the team needed me at center and I trust my coaches. I committed fully and learned the position. The quick feet I built at linebacker carry over, I get into better blocking positions and don't get beat. I love playing center now. The lesson: your responsibility to the team comes before your want.
What type of college are you looking for?
A program where I can compete for early playing time on the interior offensive line, in a culture built on physicality, accountability, and developing linemen. Open to FCS, D2, JUCO, and NAIA. I'm planning to serve a two-year LDS mission and need a program supportive of that plan. Strong academic support is extremely important to me. I have worked hard on my academics and need that to continue.
