Hunter transfers in from Apex, where he played all over the defensive line. While I initially thought he might move to the edge, Hunter put on a bunch of weight this offseason and should be a true 3-technique. He’s always going to be known for his quickness, though he’s flashed power as well, and we love his upside on this defense.

Hunter has the potential to be one of the few power rushers in a class full of speed guys. The Apex edge rusher had five sacks last season as a sophomore, and he came close to several more. With another year in his strength program, Hunter should be able to build the speed and bend to take the next step as a primary pass rusher for an up-and-coming Apex squad.

Hunter has been one of the most productive defensive linemen in the state, with five sacks and 75 tackles. He’s played a lot of end in odd fronts, but has the power to slip inside on passing downs and the speed to stay out wide in four-man fronts. He’s a relentless, high-motor pass-rusher, meaning he’s never fully out of a play.
