2026 Meadow Bridge RB [player_tooltip player_id='894721' first='Kaiden' last='Sims'] earns our week two Offensive Player of the Week after a monster game on the ground in the Wildcats' 26-18 win over Pocahontas County. The bruising running back carried the ball 21 times for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns as one of the best athletes in Class A. His combination of size, speed, and power is a rare commodity at the small school level which we saw firsthand earlier this year at the PRZ WV Combine where he was a Top Performer. Sims is an athlete that colleges need to have on their 2026 radar and is a definite scholarship-level prospect.

2025 Wahama RB [player_tooltip player_id='907169' first='Connor' last='Lambert'] was held in check for his own standards on offense in the White Falcons' big win over Doddridge County in week two but made a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball. Lambert picked off 2 passes in the game and returned both of them to the house which was a big difference in the 48-24 victory to decide who the early season top team is in Class A. He's making a case to be in the Kennedy Award discussion through the first two weeks of the season as the state's top player.

2026 Doddridge County QB [player_tooltip player_id='867726' first='Brysen' last='Dixon'] stepped up big in the Bulldogs' hard-fought defeat against a very good Wahama squad in week two. Dixon completed 10/18 passes for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 48-24 loss. He looked poised in the pocket in a huge game and looked calm under pressure on film. Dixon threw accurately rolling out and throwing on the run and waited patiently for his receivers to come open. He also executed the play-action game well which caught the Wahama defense off guard several times in the game.

2028 Madonna QB [player_tooltip player_id='892650' first='Maddox' last='Bowen'] has stacked back-to-back solid performances to begin his high school career and built on the success he had in week one with an even stronger showing in week two against Clay-Battelle. The young gunslinger threw for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 attempts and showed off his legs with 34 yards rushing and a third score. He'll continue to grow each week of the season in his first season as a freshman varsity starter which you could see from week one to week two. Bowen trusted his receivers to go up and make plays on a few balls and did a nice job managing the game. He also showed maturity on his rushing touchdown with some miscommunication with his running back before scampering in for the score.

2025 Ritchie County RB [player_tooltip player_id='1432104' first='Jonah' last='Hamilton'] is a new name on our radar after a dominant performance on the ground for the Rebels in their 49-32 win over Gilmer County. He and quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1432103' first='Turner' last='Shriver'] formed a dynamic rushing duo in the win that eclipsed over 400 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns on the night. Hamilton gave the Rebels a bigger body at running back and that translated to some hard running and many broken tackles throughout the game. Once he got in the open field, Hamilton showed he could breakaway but was a nice complement to Shriver's speed.

Ewing carried the ball 19 times for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns whose speed and quickness were tough to contain for the Blue Eagles. He's a much different athlete than record-setting 2024 RB Chase Lowe was, but Wirt County appears as if they won't see any dropoff from his large void with Ewing's capabilities.

Snyder was efficient through the air completing 5/8 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown but hurt the Bulldogs with his legs as well. He rushed for 56 yards and scored two more times managing the game well for 2-0 Webster County. Snyder threw well on the run and showed he can stretch the field on a bomb down the sideline on an off-platform throw. He's an athletic quarterback who best translates as an ATH prospect who could play receiver or defensive back at the next level as well.

Tucker County vs East Hardy

The Tucker County Mountain Lions have been steady so far in 2024 after a semifinal run last season and have yet to be tested this season which could change in week three when East Hardy comes to town. Although the Cougars are 0-2 to this point, they've played two of the better teams in Class A and could provide a challenge to the undefeated Mountain Lions. Tucker County will be the favorites heading into this matchup but East Hardy has the talent to make this one interesting for a while. Ultimately, Tucker County will likely pull away as the game goes on.
