RETURNING STANDOUT
A key returner for Oak Glen’s new coaching staff is 2028 QB/ATH Maddox Bowen, who chose to stay with the Golden Bears after coming over from Madonna when the Blue Dons were unable to field a team last season. Bowen started at quarterback and safety as a sophomore, giving Oak Glen an experienced dual-threat option on both sides of the ball. He threw for 900 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 34 tackles and two interceptions on defense, showing his versatility as a player. Bowen can help Oak Glen open up the passing game more this year and capable of creating more plays with his legs. He’s a versatile player the Golden Bears can continue to build around as they begin a new era.

had a strong freshman season for Weirton Madonna last year and will now quarterback Oak Glen with the Blue Dons not fielding a team in 2025. Bowen’s biggest roadblock to overcome as a prospect will be size as a late bloomer in that regard, but he has the talent and mind for the position. Once his body matures and he gets stronger, Bowen will blossom into a much different player which will lead to improvement in arm strength and velocity. If he can make strides physically over the next three years, Bowen has a chance to transform into a better prospect.

did a nice job operating the Blue Dons offense as a freshman as a key piece for their program to build around moving forward. Bowen threw for 1,754 yards and 19 touchdowns in his first season behind center at the high school level while seeing the ups and downs as a young quarterback that he can learn from. He’ll need to continue developing physically and will catch up in that regard to some other quarterbacks in this class, but did a great job hanging tough all season long in year one. Once his body catches up to his ability, Bowen will take his game up several notches and is a long way away from being a finished product with the potential to develop significantly by his senior year.

is a young passer that you need to tuck away and keep tabs on over the next few years as he’s started his freshman season out strong for the Blue Dons. His best football is way ahead of him, but Bowen is producing and executing well for his age and has his team 2-0 with a pair of quality performances. In two games, Bowen has completed 18/32 passes for just under 400 yards and 5 touchdowns with just 1 interception.
He’s played with courage and hasn’t shown any reluctance in running the offense as a young and undersized quarterback to date and will continue to get better as the season progresses and beyond. Bowen had some hype coming into his first year of high school from his middle school days and so far has backed that up in year one.

has stacked back-to-back solid performances to begin his high school career and built on the success he had in week one with an even stronger showing in week two against Clay-Battelle. The young gunslinger threw for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 attempts and showed off his legs with 34 yards rushing and a third score. He’ll continue to grow each week of the season in his first season as a freshman varsity starter which you could see from week one to week two. Bowen trusted his receivers to go up and make plays on a few balls and did a nice job managing the game. He also showed maturity on his rushing touchdown with some miscommunication with his running back before scampering in for the score.

. The young quarterback led the Blue Dons to a huge comeback win over Wellsville (OH) in game one of the John McCune era at Madonna. Bowen looked like a freshman starting his first high school game at times but did a great job managing some challenging weather conditions which saw the game delayed multiple times. He finished the night completing 9/16 passes for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 30-28 come-from-behind victory. His best football is far ahead of him as he continues to grow both physically and developmentally but game one was a great start to Bowen’s young career.
