The aforementioned Compton-Nero was impressive in his Owasso Rams debut, including a circus touchdown catch, one of two on the night.
The transfer from Rejoice Christian added an offer last week from Florida State to go along with a Top 15 that consists of Alabama, Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oregon, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M.

made a major announcement this offseason when he posted that he was moving over to Owasso after winning back to back titles at Rejoice Christian. Last season, he was clearly one of the best players in the state as a sophomore and is currently rated as one of the top prospects in the state’s 2028 class, with offers from all over the country at this point. He played quarterback and safety for Rejoice Christian but with Owasso having a three-year starter at QB, the former Rejoice Christian star will be used heavily on defense. But don’t be surprised if you see him running out on offense throughout the season at several different positions.

continues to be one of the state’s absolute best prospects in the 2028 class. He made the move from Rejoice Christian to Owasso this offseason and it’s going to be interesting to see how he looks against 6A-1 competition this fall. No matter what happens in the next six months, Compton-Nero has cemented himself as one of the state’s best overall players but there’s no doubt that the step up in competition on a week in and week out basis will be an interesting storyline. He projects as one of the best defensive backs in the nation in the 2028 class. And he will be in an absolute battle with a few other prospects in the ’28 class for the top overall spot in the state’s class for the next two years.

playing defensive back at the next level so we went ahead and ranked him as the top DB in the state’s 2028 class. But when you’re talking about Nero as a player, you’re talking about one of the best football players in the state. He started for Rejoice at quarterback and defensive back and was one of the best players in his class on both sides of the ball. His ability as a quarterback alone would have him considered one of the top prospects in the state’s 2028 class. But it sounds like college coaches view his ceiling higher on defense. And there was plenty of production from him there in 2025. As a sophomore, he helped guide Rejoice Christian to a second consecutive state championship.

has taken over the top overall spot in the state’s 2028 rankings this time around. The Rejoice sophomore came into this season with high expectations and he’s certainly lived up to them. He’s been an absolute playmaker on the offensive side of the ball every week this season and he’s also been incredibly effective on the defensive side of the ball. Now, speaking strictly from a prospect standpoint, all arrows are pointing to him being a defensive back at the next level. We still have him listed as an athlete in this update because of everything he’s able to do on the offensive side of the ball. But don’t be surprised if he’s moved to DB on here in the future.
