Our spring football tour ended last week with a visit to Bixby to see the Spartans as they hosted Edmond Memorial, Midwest City and Union, as well as national power East St. Louis. We were focused on the four Oklahoma programs and all four had players that stood out to us on Thursday morning. In this breakdown, we take a look at ten standouts from our time in Bixby.
Billy McDown Billy McDown 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK – 2025 Wide Receiver – Edmond Memorial
Edmond Memorial had a really good showing on Thursday morning and we came away impressed with multiple players from the Bulldogs. Near the top of that list was 2025 wide receiver Billy McDown Billy McDown 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK and he continued to build on what has been a terrific offseason. The last time we saw McDown, he was dominating in our 7v7 tournament back in March. McDown looks like he has a good shot to be the top target in the passing game this season if Thursday was any indication. He has good size, speed and his confidence continues to go up and up. On Thursday in particular, he was a solid downfield threat and was making some pretty spectacular catches.
Blake Hogshooter Blake Hogshooter 6'4" | 190 lbs | WR Bixby | 2025 State OK – 2025 Wide Receiver – Bixby
Bixby 2025 wide receiver Blake Hogshooter Blake Hogshooter 6'4" | 190 lbs | WR Bixby | 2025 State OK enjoyed a breakout season in 2023 but he appears to be ready to take his game to completely new heights in 2024. Hogshooter has had a very successful offseason after routinely being one of the top receivers to watch on the 7v7 circuit. And when the pads came on last week, Hogshooter again elevated his game. He made some special catches against some really tough competition. Hogshooter has also been putting in work in the weight room and he’s becoming more of a physically dominating threat every time we see him. We think that Hogshooter will be a match-up nightmare for opponents this fall.
Cetcher DeHart Cetcher DeHart 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Bixby | 2026 State OK – 2026 Wide Receiver – Bixby
Joining Hogshooter as one of the top pass catchers to watch this fall is 2026 Cetcher DeHart Cetcher DeHart 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Bixby | 2026 State OK as a prototypical slot receiver. We’ve written a lot about DeHart over the last six months after he continued to shine on the 7v7 circuit. But with him being a smaller receiver, we were curious how it would look when the pads came on and the hitting began. It looked the same. DeHart knows how to get open and he’s lightning quick in the open field. The Spartans had a few electric players after the catch last season and DeHart could step into their roles when Bixby takes the field this fall. Needless to say, we were very impressed with DeHart throughout the morning session.
David McComb David McComb 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK – 2025 Quarterback – Edmond Memorial
Edmond Memorial 2025 quarterback David McComb David McComb 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK had a very good showing on Thursday morning. He seemed like he was always in a rhythm and was putting the ball where it needed to be. What was really impressive is even when his rhythm in the pocket was thrown off, he was able to elude defenders and throw on the run but maintain his accuracy. There was one pass in particular where he was flushed out to the right and threw a ball 40 yards on a rope to his receiver for a score. McComb is a part of that special 2025 quarterback class and just like the other three guys that are always brought up, McComb has been special for years now.
Jaylan Woody Jaylan Woody 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH Midwest City | 2025 OK – 2025 Running Back – Midwest City
We saw some outstanding running backs throughout the team camp on Thursday morning but Midwest City 2025 standout Jaylan Woody Jaylan Woody 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH Midwest City | 2025 OK might have been the best of the best. We had high expectations for him coming into the camp and he found a way to exceed them. The first time we were watching him and he touched the ball, he took it to the house on an impressive 40-yard run. He has a very strong lower body that makes him very difficult to bring down in a one on one situation with a defensive back or even a linebacker that might be bigger. So if Woody finds a way to get into the open field or the second level of the defense, that defense will be in trouble.
Jesse Jones Jesse Jones 6'2" | 280 lbs | OL Union | 2025 State OK – 2025 Offensive/Defensive Lineman – Union
Union 2025 offensive lineman Jesse Jones Jesse Jones 6'2" | 280 lbs | OL Union | 2025 State OK has a good reputation for being incredibly versatile. He’s played all five positions along the offensive line and on Thursday, we even saw him lining up on defense, helping out that side of the line of scrimmage. Simply put, Jones is a critical part of what Union is doing on the line of scrimmage and is a very underrated prospect in the state’s 2025 class. This fall, Jones will become a four-year starter at the 6A-1 level and there simply aren’t that many players like that. He had a strong showing on defense for the Redhawks. While we still like him on offense, his help on defense could be very beneficial for Union this fall.
Jordyn Crites Jordyn Crites 6'5" | DL Edmond Memorial | 2026 State OK – 2026 Defensive Lineman – Edmond Memorial
Almost all of the players on this breakdown are guys we knew about coming into the team camp in Bixby. Edmond Memorial 2026 defensive lineman Jordyn Crites Jordyn Crites 6'5" | DL Edmond Memorial | 2026 State OK was not one of those guys but he became one fairly quickly. First off, he’s hard to miss, standing around 6’5 on the defensive line. And then we watched Crites go to work, coming off the edge for the Bulldog defense and we were impressed by his overall ability to get into the backfield in a variety of ways. Crites wasn’t a one-trick pony as he was beating opponents with speed, strength and other moves to blow by his man. Crites stood out early and often and he’s a name to know moving forward.
Kaeden Penny Kaeden Penny DL Bixby | 2027 State OK – 2027 Offensive/Defensive Lineman – Bixby
Bixby 2027 lineman Kaeden Penny Kaeden Penny DL Bixby | 2027 State OK was another prospect that was on our shortlist of names to watch coming into the camp on Thursday. Penny is expected to have a major role for the Spartans as they look to replace a lot of names in their front seven on defense. But Penny was also a standout on the offensive side of the line of scrimmage. When we were watching on Thursday, Penny got some excellent reps at the left tackle position. When you combine what he could do on that side, along with being a potentially dominating interior defensive lineman, Bixby has another gem coming up on the line of scrimmage. Penny passed the eye test and has a very bright future.
Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK – 2025 Quarterback – Union
Similar to McComb, Union 2025 quarterback Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK was a signal caller that we wanted to see but knew we wouldn’t learn that much that we didn’t already know with him as a player. Reisig has been one of the top quarterbacks in the state for a long time and he continues to be just that. On several occasions, Reisig would let it rip and show off the complete package from accuracy, arm strength and overall timing in the backfield. As we’ve mentioned before, the big storyline for him this offseason is finding that chemistry with his new receivers. You can tell that there’s been steady improvement and he had another good showing on Thursday morning.
Tayveon Parry Tayveon Parry 5'11" | RB Union | 2026 State OK – 2026 Running Back – Union
Looking back at our notes from last year, it looks like Union 2026 running back Tayveon Parry Tayveon Parry 5'11" | RB Union | 2026 State OK just has a knack for tearing it up at the Bixby team camp. Parry was one of the top performers for Union at the team camp last season and he did it again on Thursday morning. Parry is a very hard runner and it was impressive to watch when you consider it was still May. We’re a long way away from playing meaningful football but it didn’t look like that when Parry had the ball. He’s the type of running back that carries the ball like every carry is his last one and it was impressive to watch. He also found a way to shine bright on the defensive side of the ball.
