’25 QB | Finn Rouland | Seaholm | @finn_rouland

I assume there’ll be a friendly QB competition between Finn and the next player I’ll talk about- Patrick. Now, it’s a bit difficult to evaluate Veer QBs, especially those from Seaholm, as the Maples typically throw the ball even less than, say, Rochester Adams. Finn’s tape is obviously filled with correct veer reads and relatively good runs. What I will evaluate is his athleticism, physicality, and passing ability. Athletically, Finn looks quicker than most Veer QBs. He has good top speed and can outrun most front 7 defenders. His physicality and body are two areas where Finn really needs to improve. When I think of great Veer QBs like Parker Picot or

, I think of their physicality, contact balance, and competitiveness. I can’t comment on Finn’s competitiveness, but he seems to lack in the physicality and contact balance department. I would love to see Finn take full advantage of the next few months to build some muscle and get used to hitting hard. An alternative of that would be to focus fully on athleticism and earning explosive plays in the open field. Lastly, Finn has a few passing highlights, which show very raw skill in that department. I’m super interested to see if Finn can earn the QB1 spot this offseason, and if he does, he could lead a sleeper Seaholm team.
’26 QB | Patrick Hughes Patrick Hughes 5'8" | 160 lbs | ATH Seaholm | 2026 MI | Seaholm | @pjackhughes
5’8″ 160
Last season on JV, Patrick showed a lot of good stuff at QB. I also like that he’s a 3-sport athlete, also playing Basketball and Baseball. Not only is he a 3-sport athlete, but he plays some of the most important positions in all three sports. Football, he’s a QB. Baseball, he’s a pitcher and Shortstop. Basketball, he’s a point guard.
Now, Patrick shows a lot of the same stuff Finn did with a few notable differences. Generally, he’s a little less explosive of an athlete but a much better passer. Running the ball, Patrick shows solid north-south running but tends to fall on first contact. Against Varsity programs, I imagine Patrick would struggle consistently running the ball. Now, his passing is a much different story. Patrick consistently converts good, quick passes from the pocket. Even throwing off his back foot, Patrick is able to throw with solid power and touch, way better than most Veer QBs. There’s definitely a world where Patrick is Seaholm’s starting Varsity QB next season, and I’m eager to see how his 2024 season plays out.

Last season, Justin showed a lot of flashes on the defensive side of the ball. His first couple of highlights show decent rip/swim moves. A few other highlights further showcase a decent pass rush, but I’d really like to see better explosiveness and physicality right out of his stance. On plays where he goes unblocked, Justin is able to crash inside and make good tackles when the RB has nowhere to go. Now, I really like Justin’s size, but his skill is still pretty raw. I’d love to see Justin take a leap forward this Fall!
’26 DT/OT | William Reed William Reed 6'4" | 246 lbs | DL Oak Park | 2026 MI | Oak Park | (No Twitter Found)
I’m impressed with William’s sophomore season tape, especially on the defensive side of the ball. As an interior defensive tackle, William has great power and leverage. There are several plays where William is able to penetrate the interior while pushing the offensive line backward. When he’s in the backfield, he has a knack for converting TFLs. Even on non-inside-run plays, William has a great motor and oftentimes finds himself with a tackle assist on outside runs and sacks. Offensively, he’s a solid offensive tackle but it’s obvious that his primary position is DT.

. In general, Cole is way ahead of the curve as a Freshman QB, but still needs to improve before he’s a quality Varsity QB. I can’t complain about the few throws shown on tape. His fundamentals, especially his dropback, needs to be more consistent but he throws a tight spiral with good arm strength. The biggest key for any young QB is consistent accuracy, and I hope Cole is able to prove himself in that regard. Cole is also a very good runner. There’s good explosiveness and north-south running in his game, and his running already looks like it would be suitable at the Varsity level. Defensively, there are a few solid tackles that show good play speed, but not enough for me to fully judge him.
