Brother Rice’s kick returner, and a very big piece of this offense. The speed was shown on a few occasions, and he was able to earn separation against great DBs. Jacob did not surprise me in the slightest- I’ve always known that he’s a talented football player.

Plus, Jacob is extremely competitive. Cares a great deal about his performance and the team performance.

This is an easy one.

Jacob was no slouch last year. In fact, last year was a major breakout year for him.

Though Jacob keeps on working, keeps testing well, and keeps competing well. There are other slot receivers holding more offers than Jacob with frankly worse testing numbers and tape. If I’m Brother Rice, I’m getting the ball to Jacob several times per game. Screens, fades, middle-field crossers, you name it- I’m confident Jacob can execute it. No major flaws that I know of, P4-level testing numbers, and shown flashes last season. This evaluation was pretty surface-level, but just watch his tape and look at his testing numbers. Baller.

Jacob Johnson Jacob Johnson Jacob Johnson 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Brother Rice | 2026 State MI has started to receiver some D1 attention and watching the tape, it makes sense. His athleticism and ability to take the top off of the defense is next-level.

He can play physical and has shown the ability to be a threat both as a vertical threat or a speed-in-space athlete. He is able to rack up the yardage after the catch with his burst of speed and solid vision. He will benefit with another offseason of work and getting comfortable in the Aaron Marshall system.

Jacob is a better athlete than all WRs I have ranked below him. Good but not great in open space- can plant foot and evade tackles in close proximity but struggled to break more than one tackle. Runs a good slant, 10-yard out, hitch, but sample size is low. D1-level vision. NEEDS to become a more physical player. A few attempted blocks, technically does his job, but not physical. Also prone to concentration drops.

Huge season for Jacob Johnson Jacob Johnson Jacob Johnson 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Brother Rice | 2026 State MI , and he’s STILL one of the most underrated receivers in the state!

His tape is VERY good- shows great RAC, great route running, and great hands, all against excellent competition. On top of that, he was a key player in special teams and defense. So, we’ve got a three-phase player who performed great in one of if not the toughest league in Michigan. Who says no to that?

I think that Jacob is going to go to a GLAIC camp, he’ll perform well, coaches will watch his tape, and he’ll earn an offer. If he somehow falls to D3, I’d be quite surprised. But again, you really never know for WRs.

Jacob is one of the most interesting finds from my Hudl Discoveries series. There isn’t a ton of film on him, but the film that is out there is very promising. He’s an athletic slot receiver who runs good routes and who shows promise in the open field. He’ll be at the Prep Redzone Combine Series on April 13, and I’m extremely excited to see how he tests!
