2027 Watchlist: Quarterbacks To Know

This is the freshmen class we're talking about so needless to say, it's still incredibly early in their high school career. On Monday,&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/oklahoma/rankings/2027-watch-list/">we released our initial 2027 watchlist.</a></strong>&nbsp;The first prospect rankings for this class will come out in January. Throughout the week, we'll be breaking down different position groups and overall standouts in the state's 2027 class so far. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In this post, we're putting the spotlight on the quarterback position. For some of the prospects listed, they've already earned the role of QB1 and have seen significant playing time. For others, they are waiting for their turn to shine. But one thing is clear to us already, the 2027 QB class already has some good looking prospects to keep an eye on moving forward. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='477643' first='Barrett' last='Standley'] has seen some limited playing time on the varsity level this season, mostly in fourth quarters of Bixby blowouts. So the majority of his experience this fall has been at the JV and freshman level. But Standley scored his first career touchdown this past week on the varsity level and he has thrown some passes at the varsity level, although it has been a very limited sample size. Bixby is in a unique position moving forward with all of the quarterbacks that they will play.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["1035272"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Based on the film and stats that we have been able to find, Edison freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1035272' first='Braddox' last='Broughton'] has been one of the more productive quarterbacks in his class so far this season. Broughton has been QB1 for the Eagles and has put up some strong numbers so far this season. Edison is struggling on the scoreboard but they are playing a difficult schedule and there's no doubt that Broughton has been thrown into the fire but he's responded well. Broughton gets the ball out quickly, he has made some impressive throws with different arm angles and can throw off platform. His film from the first half of the regular season is impressive and we're looking forward to seeing how he progresses.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["891992"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"It appears that we're going to get our first chance to see Union freshman [player_tooltip player_id='891992' first='Kason' last='Delgado'] play meaningful varsity football this week against Mustang. Delgado is the backup to one of the best quarterbacks in the state but QB1 might be out this week. Which would mean Delgado would be starting this week and we're excited to see what he's got. Out of all the quarterbacks in the state's 2027 class, Delgado came into this season with arguably the most hype around him from the people we've talked to. So while there isn't much to evaluate yet, we're going to get our opportunity this week. And Delgado has seen playing time this year as the back up so he won't be unfamiliar to the varsity game.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["716513"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Muskogee might be going from one dynamic quarterback to another in the future. Just like Delgado at Union, Muskogee's [player_tooltip player_id='716513' first='Payton' last='Lang'] is a QB that has one of the best junior quarterbacks in the state above him on the depth chart. But everything we've seen of Lang (in limited samples) has been incredibly dynamic. From his speed on the track to his arm talent in various camps and 7v7 tournaments, Lang appears to be a special combination of speed and arm talent. Like every 2027 prospect, it's incredibly early, but Lang has the makings of a special dual-threat quarterback in the future. But with Ficklin at QB1 for Muskogee, Lang will have to wait his turn.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["916843"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"If you've followed our (limited) coverage of the state's 2027 class, you know that we've talked about Mangum quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='916843' first='Remington' last='Laughlin'] being a freshman to watch this fall. Unfortunately, Laughlin's breakout moment will have to wait until his sophomore season as he had his freshman year cut short because of a shoulder injury. Laughlin had an impressive spring and summer and all signs were pointing towards Laughlin being one of the top quarterbacks in the state's freshman class this fall. But we'll have to wait until next fall to see that play out. Despite the injury, Laughlin is still a name to know moving forward as he can come back stronger and ready to make an impact.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_5_player":["1035103"],"_player_evaluations_5_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"It's hard to miss Choctaw's [player_tooltip player_id='1035103' first='Titus' last='Hawk'] when he's on the football field. He's listed at 6'6 on the roster and towers over some of the other players on the field, including his offensive linemen. Hawk has seen some limited playing time on the varsity level but he did impress a few weeks ago in a blowout win over Capitol Hill. He went 3-4 for 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns. We don't know much about Hawk on the football field but we do know that he's already a standout on the baseball diamond. Choctaw is no stranger to having prospects that shine bright in both baseball and football. And they have a few of them at quarterback this year. He comes into this season on an absolutely loaded Mustang quarterback depth chart. So his football experience has been limited this fall. But Pogi is also a standout on the basketball floor and he's already impressed at various hoops camps this fall. We know that the Mustang coaches are very excited about some of the talent they have coming up in the younger classes and specifically this 2027 class.
