The group showed early signs of being strong at the top and talented throughout. It's continued with tremendous growth, many of these student-athlete finding college homes to continue competing in the sport.

As regular readers know, I believe in providing additional and important context to the rankings. They're not all created or evolve equally. Development is not linear.

The best way to view the rankings is by identifying tiers. These are collections of players with similar abilities and potential.

For this Iowa senior class, the Top 3 in the rankings remain the same. The trio makes up the first tier of the rundown.

Grinnell offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1204515' first='Will' last='Slagle'] holds onto the top spot after recommitting to Iowa State following a Cyclone coaching change. He's a complete player at the position for this level with a high ceiling to develop into an impactful college performer.

Sticking at No. 2 in the rankings is OABCIG athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1197438' first='Jaxx' last='DeJean']. He'll play for his older brother Cooper DeJean's school, Iowa, where he could be a receiver, a tight end or, perhaps, end up on defense.

Woodbine receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1197458' first='Landon' last='Blum'] checks in third in the rankings once again. The Penn State commitment is uber athletic with a projectable frame and an impressive catch radius.

The four-player second tier of the latest Prep Redzone Iowa Class of 2027 rankings update contains linebackers with different body types and skill sets. Regina's [player_tooltip player_id='466364' first='Tate' last='Wallace'] is up first at fourth overall. The Minnesota pledge is a versatile defender that could end up coming off the edge in college.

Bettendorf's [player_tooltip player_id='1609271' first='Gavin' last='Stecker'] moves up a spot to No. 5 in the rankings. The Bulldog senior is committed to Iowa as a long-limbed, athletic presence on the defense's second level.

Moving up four spots to sixth in the update is Sioux City East's [player_tooltip player_id='1198829' first='Kason' last='Clayborne']. The Black Raider senior will head to Minnesota as a well-rounded backer with the speed and agility to play tight end in college.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197483' first='Braylon' last='Bingham'] also advances one place in the rankings and rounds out Tier 2. The multi-sport Pleasantville standout could play the hybrid Cash linebacker spot when he gets to Iowa.

The third tier is made up of six student-athletes. No. 8 [player_tooltip player_id='1393166' first='Nate' last='Brenneman'] from Rock Valley is a 6-foot-7 O-Line prospect packed with potential he'll take with him to Iowa.

At nine is Iowa City High running back [player_tooltip player_id='1197445' first='Savion' last='Miller'], an attractive mix of power and speed colleges are interested in adding to their rosters. Kuemper Catholic offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1694834' first='Reid' last='Steger'] rounds out the Top 10. The three-hundred pounder will be headed to South Dakota State next year.

A pair of Iowa State pledges hold down the next two spots in the rankings. [player_tooltip player_id='1366537' first='Isaiah' last='Hansen'] could end up helping the Cyclones at running back, where he stands out for Newton. Waukee Northwest tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1204438' first='Joe' last='Vinyard'] boasts an incredibly high ceiling as a powerful, explosive athlete.

We finish up the third tier with Prairie offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1207826' first='Will' last='Clausen']. The Minnesota commitment is developing on an excellent trajectory and owns a bright future.

The next tier is large with a lot of interchangeable prospects. Expect more shakeup in this rankings when we finish up with this class after the season. We'll have additional data and performances to analyze.
