*Use code "jackson30" for 30% off PRZ subscription*

Thursday night, Milton and Grayson collided for one of the most heavyweight preseason games you will ever see. Even with only 1 half being played, future college talent was on full display. Here are 11 standouts from my view.

Milton only got to play a few quarters the way this team was designed last year until [player_tooltip player_id='409921' first='Derrick' last='Baker'] suffered a season ending injury. He is back, and surely eager to contribute as a senior. Things looked fast for him early against Gratson, but he settled in and impressed with his touch. I thought he got the ball up and down really well, dropping it under safeties in the second level. He flashed his big play potential as well, making impressive throws down the field while on the move. He used his athleticism to create space for himself to throw, but when he is live, he will use those traits and his sheer strength to wear down defenses in the run game.

Meintzer caught my eye last spring, fast forward a year, and his inevitable breakout is here. He is bigger than he was last year, and he will only continue to grow. In my opinion, there is a good chance he ends up being a TE. He uses his sheer size and strength to set the tone against DBs. He is a physical tone setter and dragged his way into the end zone for a TD. He is raw, but he is close, and I think he has a big year ahead of him.

Carrasquillo, an Indiana commit, caught stride and showcased some camaraderie with [player_tooltip player_id='409921' first='Derrick' last='Baker']. I am really bullish on Carrasquillo at Indiana, especially if you watched the Hoosiers last year. He checks similar boxes to the standouts on their roster last year. He is big, smooth, and tracks the ball well. He is an extremely reliable player and should have a massive season this fall.

Battaglia, a Boston College commit, played yesterday how you can expect him to play every week. He is a big, physical player in the middle of the defense with the motor and temperament to get involved on every snap. He pursued hard, impressing me with several chase-down attempts on the ball carrier from across the field. He is a high-floor, reliable player who sets the orbit on this Milton defense.

Columbia did a great job by walking into Milton and snagging the commitment of De Jesus. He looks the part, sporting his 6'0 190 frame with broad shoulders, length, and a cut build. De Jesus got his nose in on the action, putting his helmet into piles and patiently pursuing and closing on the football. It looks like De Jesus can move around in the secondary, with a long-term home being at the nickel position.

Allen is a quieter player on this team, but has the tools, upside, and playmaking ability to develop into an impact player. He played both ways as a receiver and as a corner. At corner, I thought he was physical and well involved for a 6'2 160 player. He is a smooth mover on offense who can weave, he looks calm at that spot. Allen picked up some recruiting attention this offseason, and that will continue if he plays the rest of the season the way he did yesterday.

It's an absolute stable of RBs at Grayson, and we got to see a good mix of each of them yesterday. Gray, up to 185 pounds, flashed some toughness as a runner and grinded out some yards until he eventually broke one off for an explosive play. He is a bowling ball back, and this is now the second offseason exposure to him where he generated explosives, which should be indicative of this season.

Speaking of Grayson RBs, Stonewall moved into Grayson, adding another FBS prospect to an already loaded room. He is a tall, lean player who didn't get a chance to fully open up his stride in space, but he ran patiently behind his pads. He grinded out tough runs and pushed across the goal line for the only Grayson score of the night.

Ramey is a bit of an unsung hero up front on this Grayson squad, but he is a good prospect in his own right and made some plays last night. The team captain found a way to disrupt the QB all night from his IDL spot, coming away with a sack and adding another TFL later on. He is strong enough to hold the point, but his activity is what caught my attention and is what surely catches the eye of college coaches.

Glasco is a massive DB prospect, and seeing him in person is something I would recommend anybody do. There were limited reps, but he found a way to contribute, making a physical play as a tackler and using his length to crowd the catch point and create several PBUs. He will almost never line up across from someone bigger than him, so he will be best in a setting where he can get his hands on receivers early and set the tone physically.

I thought Goggans, a Kansas State DB commit, had a really good evening. For similar reasons to De Jesus earlier, I loved Goggans combination of traits and his ability to play the run. He was patient coming downhill, but also wasn't afraid to put his head in and strike hard. He will project best as a downhill, box safety who can consistently get a crack at playing the run.

Other Standouts

'27 WR [player_tooltip player_id='640267' first='Saif' last='Bin-Wahad'] - Grayson

'27 DB [player_tooltip player_id='942227' first='Joreal' last='Ellinger'] - Grayson

'27 LB Joey Martino - Milton
