Rising Sophomores: 2029s looking to breakout

Continuing my coverage of the talented Class of 2029. These prospects have been stacking days all summer and look to have a breakout Sophomore season!    Obrian has had a wonderful summer up to this point. I have seen him in his element multiple times and I always come away impressed. I would not be surprised if this momentum carries into the fall and he has a great sophomore season!   Pannell was the Quarterback of the JV team as a freshman, but I project him to be a CB1 or slot receiver at the next level.   -Great Athleticism: Very agile with good quick twitch ability. Good speed to pull away from defenders and catch ball carriers downfield.   -Physicality: Though he is undersized he is a good consistent tackler, also not afraid to put his head down to hit a hole and gain extra yardage.   -A+ Coverage Ability: Ahead of the curve in terms of great technique and mechanics. Can play bump & run and catch man, good job turning and running while remaining in hip pocket, good eyes to match players in zone and locate ball, can high point ball in the air.     Colton put together a good freshman season and has great tape to show for it. I've seen Colton in person a couple of times over the summer, and I'm not surprised to see his game has taken another leap!   -Pocket Presence: Great posture within the pocket, good movement in all directions, can escape pocket in all directions, most impressed with his ability to stand tall in the pocket and deliver accurate balls with immense pressure in his face.   -Arm Talent: Pretty good zip on the ball coming out of his hands, ability to hit secondary and third windows on certain routes, can make layered throws.   -Good Coverage Recognition: Gets ball out quick against quick pressures/blitzes, not afraid to concede and hit check down routes underneath, can see MOF and MOFC (Middle of the field opened and closed) and make plays based off of that.     Gage is a newer player on my radar and he is here to stay. Looking to follow up with another great season, Bevins has worked hard this summer with a lot of reps with his hand in the dirt coming out of a 3 point stance. That differs from last season as he made an abundance of plays coming off the edge in a 2 point.   -High Motor: Very quick get off coming around the edge, multiple tackles for loss and sacks came off a second or counter rush move, relentless pursuit in backfield.   -Improved Coverage Ability: Good job keeping his head on a swivel, matching receivers entering his zone attacking the ball and playing through receivers' body, has come away with multiple interceptions during 7v7 sessions.   -Great Physicality: Very good consistent tackler, creates contact with OLine, pass catchers etc does not wait on contact.     I believe Maurice is an underrated prospect that has not received proper evaluation. At 6'3 220 pounds, he is on the fast track to becoming a legit college prospect in the coming years. He's already racked up some experience playing both right and left tackle, as well as some defensive tackle, that speaks to his potential versatility down the road. Sterling looks to have a pretty good wingspan, offensively he uses it stonewall defenders looking to bull rush, defensively to shoot his hands and deliver a good punch at the point of attack. He has already demonstrated some good IQ, possessing the ability to play through defensive stunts by passing off D lineman and picking up a new one. As well as his ability to sift and attack the second level of defense.     Ethan was brought to my attention by his trainer and my good friend Uriel Tyler, who he has put in a lot of work with this summer to become a better passer. Stray may very well be another underrated, underclassmen gem on the west side of the state.   -Athleticism: Long strides that translates to good speed, tall but has good contact balance when hit, good agility to get out and away from tacklers.   -Playmaking Ability: Multiple long yardage runs out of the methodical straight T offense, able to extend plays in the backfield with his legs, able to make throws downfield within his offense, "Pick Six" ability on defense.   -Versatility: Has made game changing plays at multiple positions, can project him to play multiple positions; QB & Safety       Another newer addition to my evaluation list. Nolan possesses a ton of potential at the quarterback position. On film you can see some really good flashes of his playmaking ability and his IQ. He is really good at getting the ball out on a short roll in either direction. He has good drive on the ball so he is able to get it downfield pretty easily. He's done a pretty good job throwing with anticipation and throwing his receivers open avoiding game changing turnovers. Overall I believe Nolan is a name we all should know going for forward.
