With the new Class of 2029 Rankings available to the public, and the season on our doorstep, it is time to preview this Class and the seasons the athletes among it could have. Like who is going to lead the Class is varsity passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, TDs, tackles, and any other statistical category available? We are going to try our hand at answering those questions with predictions in today's article. This is no easy feat because it will be hard for many sophomores to even see the field on Friday nights, but there are plenty in this group of 150+ athletes who will. So let's pick a stat category and predict who we believe is in position to lead the Class!

The passing categories are going to be the best race among the Class of 2029 athletes. Marshfield's Ethan Foemmel is coming off a freshman season where he was thrown into the fire and ended up being 2nd in passing yards for freshmen with 796 yards. This season Ethan is back and ready to show off the off-season dedication he has had. He will be looking for a new WR1 this fall, but I believe that with his decision making, experience, and accuracy we will see Ethan be leaned on enough to end the season as the leader in passing yards among all sophomore QBs who played varsity. Check out his freshman varsity highlights below!

In some categories you will see one athlete as our selection. That isn't the case here. The race to lead the way in the passing categories looks like it will be a tight one, and because of that we had to go with a different selection for leader in passing TDs. Our choice for that category is Wauwatosa West QB1 Hawkin Ullsperger. Hawkin should have the helm to himself the entire season, giving him more chances to go to the air. He also returns his WR2 from last season in Jeremiah Baxter. That familiarity should be clutch for Hawkin and give him a trustworthy option to push the ball to and create a lot of opportunities for scoring. Tap into Hawkin's freshman highlights to get a taste of what is to come this fall.

Clay is our choice to lead the way for both rushing yards and rushing TDs. Looking back to last season there wasn't an athlete who could sniff what he did as a freshman on varsity. Clay finished with 1,274 yards and 16 rushing TDs in 2025, and he wasn't even the RB1 option. 2027 Talon Mueller led the way in carries and returns in 2026, but Clay is simply so explosive that he is a lock to get 125+ carries. That many chances are going to lead to plenty of big plays thanks to Clay's speed, elusive running, and vision with the ball in his hands. Last year might just be the tip of the iceberg for Clay.

The receiving category was another tough battle and it has led to a split on the leaders. Our prediction to lead the Class in varsity receiving yards is Green Bay East WR Abrian Allen. The long, lean outside WR is coming off 554 yards to lead the way in 2025. Now he should step into the WR1 role for his offense. The big play threat should see an increase in targets and he has the talent to turn those chances into plenty of production. I won't be surprised to see Abrian among the leaders in the category as a whole, not just his Class.

In the receiving TDs category we are going to go with our #1 player in the Class, Nicholas Payne Jr. Leading this category won't be easy for Nicholas. Kenosha Bradford has an embarassment of riches at the skill player positions. That is why we didn't pick him to lead in yards, however, Nicholas is so explosive that we believe he won't need nearly as many targets to give his team a very productive season when it comes to scoring. This is the year Nicholas establishes his dominance and proves his big play threat on Friday nights. Get ready.

This was a super tough battle. We are going to see some big numbers from this Class in the AP yards category. In the end we had to go with the electric playmaker out of Baldwin- Woodville. Luke is utilized in all three phases of the game and has a loaded highlight reel already showing his playmaking abilities and superior athletic gifts. So in 2026 you can expect to see more from him as a return man, receiver, and ball carrier. They found ways to get Luke the ball early and often as a freshman where he had 906 AP yards. I think it is safe to bet that he will see even more in 2026.

Lukas was apart of Randolph in 2025 where he was 3rd among freshmen with 67 tackles. The 6'1" 220 lbs LB is a powerful ILB with the ability to shed blocks, navigate through traffic and get to the football at a very high rate. This year he will be doing that for the Fall River/ Rio defense it looks like. I expect to not see any drop-off though. Lukas' instincts can play anywhere and his ability to get to the football in a hurry will too. Look for Lukas to lead the way as a tackling machine.

This might be a bold prediction because Zander hasn't played on Friday nights, yet. However, the impressive DE talent is sure to carve out a role on varsity if he can come in and dominate his job like he did this summer and at the JV level last year. Zander is so long, powerful, and agile. You don't see many 230+ lbs athletes who can move like him at his age. If we see him on Friday nights it is because he proved that he deserved it. If that is the case then he is going to be a handful for any OT he faces. I'm loading up on all the Zander stock and preparing for a breakout year from the 2029 DL.

Another tough choice as there are plenty of top tier DB talent in this Class. Not to mention some strong production from the depth pieces at the position. However, I believe Khyree is going to have a ton of chances to attack the football in coverage. Racine Case is going to have a good team this fall and should be able to put up points. That will have teams trying to keep up, and boost the chances Khyree will have to grab INTs. The 2029 CB definitely knows how to play the ball in the air, so if he chances increase then his numbers will too. I can't wait to see some fresh film from Khyree when the season starts rolling.
