Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
We end with a freshman that is well worth having on your radars going forward. In his first year of varsity football, the 8 Man standout put together a great season. 1,274 rushing yards, 16 TDs, and 65 tackles plus 5 INTs are all outstanding marks. Clay already is standing out from the crowd with his instincts. The freshman was so quick to read blocks and set up defenders while not sacrificing speed. He hit the hole at top speed and has the balance to be able to still hit a cut on a dime. Clay also carries that instincts to the defensive backfield. Plus the speed needed to roam the secondary easily or flip the field with a huge run on offense. The tools are coming together very quickly and setting Clay up for a chance to make a run at one of the most productive 8 Man careers we have seen in WI.

Next up we go to the 8 Man league for an otherworldly productive athlete. As a freshman, Clay produced 133 carries, 1274 yards, 16 TDs, 65 tackles, 1 FR, and 5 INTs for the varsity. On offense Clay shows the instincts with the ball in his hands needed to excel at the varsity level. He is so quick to read and react to blocks and always seems to be gaining yards when he has the football. The freshman accelerates through the hole and flashes the speed to beat angles several times in his highlights. Those same instincts and play recognition shine at safety for the freshman too. He does a great job of always being in the right place at the right time. Clay also has the ball skills to capitalize on that ability to bait QBs into bad throws. Don’t overlook the 8-Man standout.
