Interesting Iowa ’27s Looking for College Homes

Twelve different guys have verbally committed to Power 4 programs. Quite a few others have pledged to FBS and FCS schools.   Even with those sizable numbers, a lot of talent from the state for the cycle remains in the board. Here's a closer look at a group of them:   [player_tooltip player_id='1706461' first='Ryker' last='Hein'], LB, Monticello   Announced offers: None.   The Situation: Hein is a prospect that might best fit as a hybrid linebacker/safety but could also work in different systems as a linebacker or safety. It's valuable versatility for a young man with speed and athleticism. He's certainly a guy that could help early on special teams.   He's on the radar of colleges. Hein visited Upper Iowa at the end of March and Wartburg in early May. He stopped at Wisconsin-Platteville for a visit in May and camped with the Pioneers on Monday.   [player_tooltip player_id='1607041' first='Rylan' last='Hilton'], WR/DB, Indianola   Announced offers: Wayne State, Southwest Minnesota State, Sioux Falls.   The Situation: Injuries limited Hilton in 2025, but he managed 14 receptions for 188 yards and four touchdowns. He bounced back with a strong track season, running in three relays at the state meet. After that, he put together a strong performance at the South Dakota State mega camp.   As a result, Wayne State, Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls have offered scholarships this month. Hilton has a chance to raise his stock even more with a healthy and productive senior season.   [player_tooltip player_id='1204447' first='Ben' last='Carlo'], QB, Glenwood   Announced offers: None.   The Situation: Carlo has good size and produced as a junior last year, completing 142 of 201 passes for 1758 yards and 13 touchdowns and adding 244 rush yards with eight scores on the ground. When you watch his film, it's been surprising that there hasn't been more attention from colleges. He's not without interest, however.   South Dakota State had Carlo at camp on Thursday. He's visited Northwestern College, Sioux Falls, Drake, Minnesota-Mankato and Wynona State throughout this winter and spring.   [player_tooltip player_id='1848693' first='Ezra' last='Hibma'], QB/ATH, Sioux Center   Announced offers: Dakota State, Briar Cliff, Dordt, Northwestern College.   The Situation: Himba completed 110 of 187 throws for 1,675 yards and 21 touchdowns against five interceptions as a junior last season. He also contributed 484 and seven scores rushing, highlighting the speed and athleticism he offers behind center. While it makes sense to keep developing him there because of the upside at the game's most important position, he has the traits to succeed at other spots.   Colleges are willing to give him that chance. Dakota State, Briar Cliff, Dordt and Northwestern College have offered him opportunities. He's another guy that could attract more attention with a strong senior campaign this fall.   [player_tooltip player_id='1689777' first='Cory' last='Kratofil'], DE/OLB, Centerville   Announced offers: None.   The Situation: I wrote about Kratofil this spring after checking out his junior highlights. He struck me as a guy that should be receiving more attention on the recruiting trail, but it's yet to materialize. His statistics were modest with him recording 19.5 tackles (11 solo), a half tackle for loss, a half sack and recovered a pair of fumbles. The film shows him creating disruption with the potential for much more down the road, however.   Drake, Grand View and Upper Iowa played host to Kratofil on junior day visits this spring. He may have to wait to get out senior film to finally receive more attention but the patience could pay off.
