Minnesota's 2026 outdoor track & field season has been rockin'! Per usual, PRZMN is seeing multi-sport standouts make a name for themselves sprinting, jumping, and throwing, sometimes at an elite level, and it's worth mentioning that Minnesota is still currently home to one of the best multi-sporters in the nation in Triton's Pierce Peterson. The future Virginia Tech Hokies' TE, while coming in at 6'5, 210, has gone 10.71 in the 100M dash, 2:00.68 in the 800 (broke a school record from 1996), 6'10" in the high jump, and 47.24 in the 400M (#1 in MN, 39th-best in the country this spring), so make sure you bask in the elite athleticism while we have it. However, Minnesota's multi-sport, track & field scene is in good hands with some of these up-and-coming rising senior track athletes. Get to know them below!

A tremendous outdoor track and field season has catapulted Esko's Derek Nooyen off the state's Watchlist, well into the rankings, and much deeper into the PRZMN radar than expected at this point in time. Esko has produced borderline-freaky athletes the past few cycles, as well as athletes with game-changing speed, but Nooyen is really etching a name for himself in the spring of 2026. It's been a steady but impressive climb for Nooyen this spring, starting with an 11.51 on April 14th at the MLWR Invitational, then jumping to a 11.51, 11.35, 11.17, 11.06, and most-recently a 10.93 100M PR at the MSHSL Section 7A Championships.

In his junior season, Nooyen posted 12 receptions for 170 yards and 1 TD, as well as 21 tackles, 2 PBUs defensively, and he followed it up by coming to our PRZMN Winter Showcase in December and posting a 4.8 in the 40. The speedster's junior tape displays a wideout with smooth, quick, and effective releases at the LOS, as well as a big catch radius that can reel in receptions while fully extended and while high-pointing the rock. Nooyen can also sit down and find pockets in zone coverage well and is an overall good route runner. Defensively, he's also a willing tackler who is sticky in coverage and able to stay in-phase with WRs working vertically. This kid is poised for a huge Summer Camp SZN, and beyond!

An exciting new name to the PrepRedzoneMN radar, Richfield's Jarell Allen has verified speed and explosiveness that is difficult to find on the recruiting trail. Additionally, he's a huge piece to what is looking like a frighteningly-explosive Richfield Spartans offense going into the fall of 2026. Allen has some serious juice on the track, clocking a 11.17 100M PR at Tri-Metro Championships on May 12th, as well as a 21'6 long jump and 24.10 200M for good measure.

The 6', 190 lb. WR and CB proved himself to be a reliable pass-catching weapon who is comfortable in space and can cut at top speed, and his track speed shows up especially prominently when working vertically as a WR. The burst and acceleration is noticeable as well as impressive too. Allen, as a wideout, can work out of the slot or on the perimeter, and he owns good contact balance after the catch and strong hands at the catch point. Defensively, he's quick to squeeze and find the hip of a WR and displays good timing and noticeable quickness in his breaks from his CB spot. Plus, he's willing to come downfield and support the run with physicality. Going to be a monster year for Allen & co. Keep an eye on the Richfield Spartans!

The Cardinals' sprinter has PRed with an 11.05 100M and 23.16 200M, as well as a 19'0.75" long jump from back in the 2025 outdoor T&F season. Although there's only a couple of reps of film publicly available, Hibbler manufactured a beautiful KOR TD against Roseville where he sees the hole, hits the hole, and is gone, just like that.
It's been a good offseason for Becker's [player_tooltip player_id='1293093' first='Tristan' last='Kowalkowski']!
The lefty signal-caller has seen some Big Game action with the Bulldogs in his prep career, and he shows off a strong arm that can stretch the field vertically, and with noticeable touch and ball placement, especially on his fade balls - giving his WRs back-shoulder opportunities with ease. Kowalkowski is also accurate to all three levels of the field and owns impressive off-platform accuracy to boot, and he will step into his throws and finish passes through oncoming hits and pressure. Plus, he's a dangerous scrambler and ball carrier with effective footwork in the open field who will also lower the shoulder and lay the boom if given the opportunity. An All-District CB from the 6A ranks, Gibson posted 30 tackles, 2 TFLs, 7 PBUs, 1 INT, and 1 FF as a junior, and he's fresh off his first college football offer, which came out of the WIAC and UW-Eau Claire on a junior day a couple of days ago.

Blaine is filled with verified track speed and explosiveness going into the 2026 season, and the Bengals RB, [player_tooltip player_id='1557517' first='Derrick' last='Obwaya'], is an important piece to the puzzle of success facing the 6A competitor this fall. Obwaya, an All-State long jumper from last season, has posted PRs of an 11.84 100M, 21'11.5" long jump, and 41'2.75" triple jump this spring, and the tailback oozing with burst has earned offers from UW-Eau Claire, Augsburg, UW-River Falls, and St. Olaf this offseason.

Obwaya owns good footwork in open space, noticeable balance, and an effective stiff-arm.
It's been a productive offseason for Blaine's QB1! [player_tooltip player_id='2134052' first='Jameson' last='Niska'] has stayed busy, running with NextLevelAthletes on the offseason 7v7 circuit, and he got some good news in early May, earning his first offer from the highly-touted University of Minnesota-Duluth. The standouts Bengals' gunslinger posted 1,153 rushing yards and 14 rushing TDs + 1,221 passing yards and 8 passing TDs in his first year starting with the Bengals last fall, solidifying himself as one of the top dual-threats in the entire Land of 10,000 Lakes. That dynamic production was really put into context well this outdoor track & field season, as Niska has PRed with a 10.86 100M, 22.59 200M, and 19'6" long jump this spring with the Bengals. No wonder UMD got involved!

The true dual-threat owns game-breaking speed and can slash defenses if he gets out to the edge, to the sideline, and/or in space, and he owns the top-end speed to finish big runs for TDs and outpace those final pursuit angles and 6A defenders. Niska shows off good touch and throws a good ball on the move, and he will stand in the pocket and deliver throws through oncoming contact. Niska also shows some reps of him scanning the field and working through his progressions successfully, and he's strong and balanced in the open field, with effective acceleration and the top-speed to manufacture splash plays against the best defenses Class 6A has to offer. Most likely a DB at the next level, so enjoy the dynamic offensive Big School weapon while we got him!

Another darkhorse in the 2027 class, Burnsville's [player_tooltip player_id='1393180' first='Joaquin' last='Brown'] burst onto the rising senior recruiting scene this offseason. The WR/DB popped off an eye-catching, laser-timed-and-verified 40 in the low-4.6s at this spring's 612Q's Offensive Skills Showcase. He also displayed a raw, yet explosive, route running skillset during the event, and his junior tape from 2025, though only a minute long and holding some JV tape, displays a good blocker who shows off his track speed in some big-time hawkdowns of loose 5A ball carriers far downfield. Speaking of track speed, Brown has posted a 11.58 100M and 44'6.5" triple jump this outdoor track & field season. Make sure to keep an eye out for this breakout contender in 2026!

Burnsville's [player_tooltip player_id='1288386' first='Tommy' last='Subah'], one of Minnesota's top WRs, is in the midst of one of the better offseason's out of the state's crop of 2027 recruits. After a strong showing at the annual 612Q's Offensive Skills Showcase, Subah had platformed himself perfectly to reel in offers from the likes of UMD, Jamestown, Northern State, St. John's, and Augustana this spring. He then transitioned that success to the track, PRing with an 11.58 100M, 20'3" long jump, and 45'6.25" triple jump this spring.

The Burnsville Blaze playmaker is a legit deep threat who can work out of the slot, and he displays good ball skills and contested catch ability at the WR position. He owns the speed to stack and burn athletic 5A CBs in man coverage, and he's dangerous in space with noticeable burst and contact balance after the catch. Can't wait to see where Subah lands when the dust settles.

Easily one of the most versatile and dynamic athletes in the state, Foley's [player_tooltip player_id='1581376' first='Levi' last='Sauer'] is also pound for pound one of the toughest. The 5'10, 180 lber. has lined up at DT, DE, off-ball linebacker, and fullback in 2025, but he owns the speed to potentially break open a game offensively, as he PRed with an 11.43 100M time this spring, showcasing some serious explosiveness and top-end speed at the position.

A dynamic two-way contributor oozing with positional versatility, Sauer flashes good lateral agility, burst, and vision from his FB spot. He punches above his weight in the physicality department and is willing to run by you or run you over with the ball in-hand. Plus, he displays ood footwork and balance in the open field. The Foley product is also a good 1v1 tackler who lived in opponents' backfields in 2026 from his DL/LB spot, is twitchy from his NG spot, and overall owns sideline-to-sideline pursuit speed. Talk about a sleeper! DIIIs, NAIAs, and JUCOs: take notice!

A fun new name to add to PRZMN's 2027 radar, Triton is hope to yet another standout track performer in Braxton Koss.
As a RB/CB, Koss is a comfortable 1v1 tackler in space and he will get downhill and meet RBs at the contact point with physicality.
Representing Pillager High School, [player_tooltip player_id='1646034' first='Thomas' last='Niggeler'] is in the midst of a strong junior campaign on the track. This outdoor season also followed what was a successful junior campaign on the gridiron, no doubt aided and backed up by Niggeler's now-verified track speed. The Huskies' two-way contributor has posted a 11.66 100M, 23.68 200M, and 20'9" long jump this spring on the track, numbers that will surely aid him once the Summer Camp SZN gets going.

No consolidated highlights, but you can still gather that Niggeler is a ballhawk from the secondary who is more than fast enough to hang with any WRs on his schedule working vertical. He's also a reliable pass-catching weapon with good ball skills who is impactful as a kick returner too. The 180 lber. is a physical tackler from his CB spot and has the speed to act as the backside pursuer successfully, and his closing speed earned him some TFLs in 2025. I think he's going to have a monster season that could really earn the Pillager product some D2 looks.

A unique athletic measurement for a unique athlete! Anoka's [player_tooltip player_id='1120517' first='Blake' last='Sieben'] is in the midst of a heckuva offseason. The Tornadoes gunslinger has earned offers from Jamestown, Bemidji State, Minnesota State-Mankato, River Falls, St. John's, and Northern State with the Summer Camp SZN right around the corner. He's also in the midst of a standout track and field season, clocking a 14'9 pole vault that helped qualify him for state as a junior.

As a junior, Sieben proved himself to be a mobile, quick, athletic scrambler who can improvise and extend plays. Helso throws a good ball on the move that can still hit all three levels of the field thanks to his arm strength. The 170 lber. is also a dangerous ball-carrier with the top-end speed to finish runs for TDs once he finds space and the third level of a defense, and his strong lower body and contact balance helps him bounce weaker tackle attempts at his legs. He owns a cannon of an arm and is athletic enough to break open games with either his arm or his legs against 6A defenses. Anoka had a weird season in 2025, going 0-9 despite some airtight scorelines and finishes that didn't go in their favor, but Sieben still managed to pop off for 141-263 (54%) for 1,932 yards and 16 TDs to 8 INTs, also 609 rushing yards and 9 TDs. The kid has juice, and there's no way the cards fall like that for Anoka again. Should be a monster season for the Tornadoes' QB1 & company.

A burner of a RB, DB, WR, and occasional wildcat QB has manufactured PRs of an 11.31 100M and 22.87 200M, putting some exciting context into his junior season statline of 120 rushes for 804 yards and 8 TDs to lead the Cougars in rushing in 2025. He added 13 catches for 138 yards and 2 TDs, 4 tackles on defense, and was 4-5 passing for 54 yards and 1 TD for East, taking wildcat snaps out of the backfield as a junior, both running and passing assignments.

A thoroughly covered Lakeville North DB and seasoned Top-100 2027 prospect, [player_tooltip player_id='1610248' first='Gavin' last='Casey'] cannot stop adding green numbers and positive exposure points to his budding athletic resume. Casey has popped off for PRs of an 11.52 100M, 22.43 200M, and 50.75 400M, earning the attention of Grinnell College, St. John's University, Northern State, and the University of Jamestown, the latter two of which came in person during camp evaluations. Additionally, the Lakeville product had a good showing at 2025 Gopher prospect camp, was named one of Minnesota's "Hardest Hitters" by PrepRedzoneMN this spring, as the 180 lber. sticks WRs at the catch point and comes into contact like a missile, and he comes downhill like a freight train, visibly whiplashing opponents heads and necks due to the force he generates when coming into a collision.

An overall excellent tackler, Casey is particularly explosive when coming downhill and closing on WRs and RBs behind the LOS, ate up WR screens for breakfast in 2025, which generated some of his biggest hits of his junior season, and the 180 lber. even lifted a WR off his feet and sent a RB on a 360 degree spin thanks to how hard he hit him when reading a triggering on a screen. The Lakeville product puts his hat on the ball at the contact point, popping the pigskin loose with chaotic effect, and naturally forces turnovers, whether that's due to ripping at the ball or putting his hat on it. Casey can slide and fit into zone drops at the second and first level of the field with lethal precision, demonstrates sideline-to-sideline range in coverage, and utilizes speed turns effectively. We'll be hearing more about Casey this summer!
