Iowa's Class of 2027 is finishing up its junior year of high school. The focus on choosing a college is increasing in intensity. Finding a home on the next level before your final prep campaign kicks off is preferred. That's the case for a growing number of guys in the group.

A few have verbally committed recently. Sioux City East linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1198829' first='Kason' last='Clayborne'] pledged to Minnesota, joining fellow in-state classmates, [player_tooltip player_id='466364' first='Tate' last='Wallace'], a linebacker from Regina, and Prairie offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1207826' first='Will' last='Clausen'], in the Gopher '27 Class. In all, 11 of 13 players ranked Prep Redzone Iowa's Top 13 have committed, all to Power 4 programs.

That's a strong group.

The good news for schools still searching for talent is that more remains in Iowa for this cycle. Here's a closer look at recruiting processes I'm watching, at least one of which will be a Power 4 signee:

[player_tooltip player_id='1197445' first='Savion' last='Miller'], RB, Iowa City High

Announced offers: Iowa State (previous staff), Missouri, Miami (FL), Toledo, Minnesota, Kent State, West Virginia and Wyoming.

The Situation: Miller, who announced he was transferring from Regina to City High during the middle of the school year, released a Top 4 of Missouri, Minnesota, Miami and West Virginia in February, saying, "Blessed to have this opportunity. My recruitment is still 100% open!"

The talented ball carrier is ranked the highest among uncommitted prospects at Prep Red Zone Iowa at No. 5. His Top 4 includes four programs for which a lot of recruits around the country would love to compete.

Miller visited all four of his top schools this spring. He's locked in an official visit to Minnesota (June 12-14).

It feels like the Gophers are well positioned based on social media posts about their involvement. It also feels like the race isn't quite over.

[player_tooltip player_id='1694834' first='Reid' last='Steger'], OL, Kuemper Catholic

Announced offers: South Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota, Northern Iowa, Army, Navy.

The Situation: I gotta be honest, I thought Steger would have more and bigger offers at this point. Loved the film. Saw him destroying opponents at the UNI-Dome in November. Be that as it may, successful programs are pursuing him.

Steger has visited South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota. The talented front man also has visited South Florida, Columbia and Iowa. He appeared to set up an official visit to North Dakota.

If Steger camps with bigger programs this summer, he could snag an offer or two. His upside is worthy of it. Then again, he has a bird in hand with his current options.

[player_tooltip player_id='1198818' first='Rowan' last='Doak'], Athlete, Ankeny

Announced offers: Northern Iowa, Penn, Cornell, Harvard, Lafayette, Missouri Western State University.

The Situation: Already with opportunities from strong programs and colleges, Doak knows he'll be competing at the next level. It also feels like he's being under-recruited relative to ability and potential. The latter is a really important consideration with the athleticism and projectable frame.

Doak has done a nice job checking out his options and beyond. He's visited Penn, St. Thomas, South Dakota State, Missouri State and Northwestern. He announced that he'd be officially visiting Harvard this summer after the program visited with him in Ankeny last week.

Summer camps at bigger schools could very well land Doak more offers. Again, the upside is significant.

[player_tooltip player_id='1616410' first='Drake' last='Buthe'], DL/OL, Glenwood

Announced offers: North Dakota, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Florida Atlantic, UConn, Navy, Army, Western Michigan, Wyoming, Northern Iowa, Missouri State, Central Florida, Miami (OH).

The Situation: Buthe has piled up a heck of a collection of offers across multiple levels. He's visited Iowa State (with previous and new staffs), Illinois, North Dakota, Kansas, Minnesota, UConn, Wyoming. Coaches from Michigan State, Central Florida, Air Force, South Dakota State and UConn have visited him in the last month.

With the amount of offers and interest he has, Buthe can and should be deliberate with his process of finding the best fit. While doing so, it's worth it for him to hit up camps at other colleges. With his talent and potential, it could pay off.

[player_tooltip player_id='1643647' first='Trent' last='Wesselmann'], OL, Gilbert

Announced offers: South Dakota, Western Illinois, Lindenwood, Northern Iowa, Missouri Western.

The Situation: Wesselmann has steadily added offers since the middle of February. The flurry came on the heels of a busy fall of visiting campuses, including Iowa and Iowa State.

Northern Iowa played host to Wesselmann this spring, when it offered. Other than that, he hasn't announced taking other visits.

He could see what he likes in the Panthers. Wesselmann also might wait to see other of his options. He's another prospect that could benefit from camping with other programs.
