*Use code Johnson30 for a 30% discount on a Prep Redzone WI subscription*

Running back is one of those positions where you can succeed at it in so many ways. We see so many body types and skill sets find ways to excel and change games. Speed, quickness, power are the main paths of success for an RB. While the flashy, speed guys might create the exciting highlight clips there is nothing more impressive or imposing than watching a big, strong athlete just wear down a defense throughout the span of a game with downhill, physical running. So we here at Prep Redzone WI need to make sure those monsters are getting the shine they deserve. So let's take a look at the film of some of the most physically dominant RBs who will be back on the field on Friday nights this fall.

RB1 and Badgers commit [player_tooltip player_id='1620318' first='Kingston' last='Allen'] is a must include in this article. He is by far the most well rounded athlete at the position here in WI. Meaning that he checks the power box. Even at 185-190 lbs Kingston has proven that he can run through arm tackles unphased, lower a shoulder and churn his legs through and over a defender, and do it while keeping his balance and coming out the other side ready to pick up more yards after contact. Badgers fans should be very excited to watch what Kingston produces in his final year of high school ball before heading over to Madison next year.

The top of our RB position are a bunch of well rounded, physical athletes. Next up we have New Richmond's [player_tooltip player_id='1647055' first='Austyn' last='Wittek']. Wittek is a member of NDSU's first FBS level recruiting Class. The 6' 190 lbs 2027 dominates with a running style that ensures Austyn is always gaining positive yards. He is a one cut runner, and once he is getting north-south the '27 would rather run through a man than try and dance around him. The tape shows that it is a reliable option. Over and over you will see the RB breaking tackles, bouncing off hits, and all the while still gaining positive yards. He will always fall forward and you can bet that Austyn won't go down without a fight. I'm pumped to watch his final season.

Ashton actually plays QB for Neenah, but his main role is to run the football. A job that the '27 ATH and NDSU commit has proven is perfect for him. I love the tape. Ashton is so physically imposing and dominant. He has the speed to create the highlight reel long TD run, but the most consistent highlights are plays where he is running through multiple tackle attempts without going down. The 205+ lbs athlete is built to wear down a defense with his downhill running style. Ashton is the hammer in a lot of contact scenarios on tape. I'm preparing for a monster senior season from Ashton that puts him in the running for Player of the Year.

Carter is another athlete with a balanced game, but is at his best when he can feature his 6'2" 195 lbs frame. Between the tackles Carter has some broken tackles where he just shrugs guys off him. Despite more of an upright running style, Carter is still able to keep his balance through contact and also flash that burst of power through a defender to break a tackle. It is clear that the big man has built a strong frame with how he handles contact.

Aidan is an intimidating presence in the New Berlin West backfield. Checking in at 6'1" 200 lbs, Aidan has grown and built a frame that thrives off physicality on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. His lower body easily rips through outstretched arms trying to trip him up. He flashes a powerful stiff arm to keep defenders at bay as well. Even when a defender does get him off balance or twisted around Aidan has shown he can keep his feet, break the tackle, and keep gaining positive yards. This is a kid that defenses have to try and gang tackle early on in the play. Once he gets rolling he is hard to slow down.

I love the display of violent running that Jax plays with for Waterford. Jax brings a larger than usual frame for the RB position at 6'2" 205 lbs. That long frame does give him a taller running stance, but Jax is so good at dropping his pad level to use his power to run through a defender's chest. Even when he doesn't drop his pads, Jax has clip after clip showing how he runs through arm tackles unbothered and without losing speed. Jax also has clips of him breaking tackles in the middle of jukes and jump cuts too. He is so strong, to a point where he also plays some DE/OLB for Waterford too. Don't miss out on this physical tone setter.

Another hammer of an RB who you can count on to run through a wall to get the tough yards is the new RB for Sun Prairie East. Kamaria is a 5'10" 205 lbs mass of power. He did a lot of work between the tackles at Madison West in 2025 and that fit his strengths. He could move the pile, always end plays falling forward, and arm tackles don't slow him down. This is a kid that defenses have to make sure they're pursuing towards to help gang tackle him. His low center of gravity is hard to get off balance 1 on 1. I'm looking forward to watching him on a new roster this fall.

If you are a fan of physical, downhill running and are looking to add that to your roster at the next level then you need to watch Hilbert's [player_tooltip player_id='2103533' first='Jack' last='Pakala']. It seems like every one of his highlights features his power and contact balance. Every carry seems to have 2-3 broken tackles. Jack can absorb contact without losing balance so well, pin balling off hits and still getting up the field. Once he works his way to the open field the 2027 RB can flip the switch and show that he has some speed to him in the open field too. The small school standout is a gem to know about for this year.

Aidan is a dominant runner with violent power that punishes his opponents. He towers over a lot of his small school opponents at 6'2" 215 lbs and imposes his will every carry. So many of his carries from the FB position show that defenders can't seem to even wrap him up, instead bouncing off him as he bulldozes his way through the trenches. The strength he has built has made him a nightmare to simply get off balance, not even down to the ground. Lisowski's talents give C-FC a major advantage in the ground game.

The 6' 210 lbs 2027 is another monster imposing his will with physical dominance. So much so that he was able to earn All State as an RB and LB while also helping Darlington to an undefeated State Championship. A lot of Calum's offensive highlights usually feature a wake of broken tackles and defenders on the ground. Calum has a powerful lower body that never seems to quit or slow down when he has the ball. You also see the strong upper body can could rip through arm tackles and regain balance in those moments. This is a 2027 that brings the violence to the defense.
