The 4th annual PRZ Sooner State Shootout took place in Broken Arrow this weekend and we had over 100 teams from this region competing on Saturday and Sunday. In the 18U division, Sooner 7 had a couple teams, one that earned the top seed going into bracket play on Sunday. After watching both squads, we came away impressed with ten different players and have a breakdown on each. We'll have more highlights of these players up on our YouTube Channel later in the week!

[player_tooltip player_id='602991' first='Braeden' last='Baker'] - 2027 Linebacker

This was our first chance to watch junior [player_tooltip player_id='602991' first='Braeden' last='Baker'] in person since he moved from Lincoln Christian to Broken Arrow. Baker has been considered a running back for the last few years but he's starting to shine brighter on the defensive side of the ball. And his defensive skills were on full display this weekend. Baker made multiple interceptions while we were watching Sooner 7 in action on Saturday and Sunday. We can't wait to watch Baker in action against 6A-1 competition this spring and into the fall. That move to linebacker as a prospect could be what he needs to get on the radar of college coaches at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1549140' first='Brice' last='Owens'] - 2027 Quarterback

It seems like every time we watch 2027 quarterback Bryce Owens in person, he's better than the last time. And Owens is no stranger to lighting things up at PRZ 7v7 tournaments over the last few years with Sooner 7. He was back at it this weekend, playing on their top team and slinging the ball all over the field. He was making really strong throws at all three levels but his efficiency when he was pushing the ball down the field was very fun to watch. Owens also looks the part as an overall athlete but watching his abilities as a pure passer in a 7v7 setting continue to improve is very exciting. He had another polished performance in Oklahoma.

[player_tooltip player_id='521089' first='Bryson' last='Brown'] - 2027 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

2027 standout [player_tooltip player_id='521089' first='Bryson' last='Brown'] is known more around the state for being one of the top cover corners in this part of the country. Brown has been running with Sooner 7 for a while and this weekend, he showcased his abilities on both sides of the ball. Don't get us wrong, Brown was still a lockdown corner and did his thing on the defensive side of the ball while we were watching Sooner 7 in person. But he was also turning around and giving them a big play threat on the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver. Brown is one third of the state's best secondary and it seems like at least once a week he's reporting another P4 offer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1475775' first='Cohen' last='Beach'] - 2027 Wide Receiver

Sooner 7 has had a handful of northwest Arkansas standouts over the last few years and 2027 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1475775' first='Cohen' last='Beach'] was another one this weekend. While we were watching Sooner 7 in pool play on Saturday, it seemed like Beach was always open and whenever he would make the catch, he would have at least five yards of separation from the closest defensive back. That kind of route running was impressive to watch and it was on full display Saturday. The playmaking ability was clearly there throughout the weekend. We didn't know much about Beach coming into this weekend but we walked away with a high opinion of the Shiloh Christian product.

[player_tooltip player_id='1684110' first='Jackson' last='Parks'] - 2027 Wide Receiver

This is the second time we watched 2027 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1684110' first='Jackson' last='Parks'] go to work in the last few weeks. The first time was at our Showcase a couple weeks ago and this weekend, he was one of the more consistent wide receivers that we watched in the 18U division. Parks is an absolute monster and continues to fly under the radar and there's really no excuse. He has size, speed and very reliable hands to be a player that ends up at the next level. This weekend in particular, Parks was one of the top targets for Sooner 7 and he was an absolute nightmare for opponents to deal with in jump ball situations or in the red zone. Parks made tough catches look easy.

[player_tooltip player_id='1667339' first='Jeymon' last='Reed'] - 2029 Quarterback

This was our first chance to see freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1667339' first='Jeymon' last='Reed'] in person since he made the move from Altus to Muskogee two months ago. Reed's upside as a quarterback prospect is off the charts when you combine everything that he brings to the table. He's a terrific athlete that is improving every single day as a passer. Getting all of these reps in 7v7 tournaments at quarterback is only going to help him continue to improve moving forward. While we were watching him in person Saturday and Sunday, Reed made some big time throws that you don't see from a freshman very often. There's a reason he debuted as the top overall 2029 prospect in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633137' first='Lane' last='Simpson'] - 2028 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

2028 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1633137' first='Lane' last='Simpson'] out of Cushing was one of the players we were fired up to watch the most this weekend in Broken Arrow. Simpson was one of the breakout stars during his sophomore season on both sides of the ball. We were fired up to get a chance to watch him go to work on both sides of the ball and he did not disappoint. Whether it's on offense or defense, Simpson knows how to make plays at a very high level. That was on full display this weekend in Broken Arrow. We really like his game moving forward and in our opinion, the ceiling for him is very high. He could be one of the more productive players in the 2028 class this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='2138061' first='Max' last='Everett'] - 2028 Running Back

Similar to Parks, this was our second chance to see 2028 running back [player_tooltip player_id='2138061' first='Max' last='Everett'] in the last few weeks. He was the RB MVP at our Showcase a few weeks ago. This weekend, Everett was a speed demon that defenses had a lot of problems trying to keep up with. A very underrated part of Everett's game is his positive play and how vocal he is with his teammates. At these 7v7 tournaments, a lot of the vocal talk can be incredibly negative but Everett was constantly boosting his teammates up. When you combine that with the unreal speed and playmaking ability, you have a player that's going to help out a program in a major way.

[player_tooltip player_id='700412' first='Peyton' last='Campbell'] - 2027 Defensive Back

We can't stress this enough. Stillwater 2027 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='700412' first='Peyton' last='Campbell'] is an absolute dog. We were so impressed with him when we caught him in person during his junior season. Then we watched him again this weekend and he was making play after play in the secondary. Whether it was jumping routes and finishing with the interception or just breaking up the pass, Campbell has a nose for the football that is at an absolute elite level. We cannot wait for the next time we catch Campbell in pads. In our opinion, he's one of the best defensive backs in the state's 2027 class that is still somehow flying under the radar. Look at the tape, look at the production and you see a game changer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297670' first='Tristian' last='Birmingham'] - 2027 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

2027 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1297670' first='Tristian' last='Birmingham'] is no stranger to dominating at our Prep Redzone 7v7 tournaments. He's done it the last two years and was back again this year with Sooner 7 and wrecked shop. The thing that we've really liked about Birmingham is his willingness to do whatever to help the team. At Sand Springs, he moved over to running back when asked. With Sooner 7, he was playing on both sides of the ball and he was consistently making plays. On Saturday in particular, he was making catch after catch and then he moved over to defense and played at cornerback and at safety in the same game. He did a little bit of everything this weekend.
