was a player that we circled around this time last season as being a potential breakout star for the Tigers in 2025. He certainly lived up to all the preseason hype as he emerged as an All State player and one of the best two-way players in the state. Now, coming into his junior season, Simpson will look to be one of the top receiving weapons in Class 4A and in the state. Defensively, he’ll look to carry over the momentum from last season, where he emerged as an absolute ball hawk in the Cushing secondary. We got a chance to watch Simpson in person a few times this offseason and he was at his absolute best with the pads on at team camp and we can’t wait to see what he does for an encore this fall.

There weren’t many players in the state’s 2028 class that had bigger breakout seasons than Cushing’s

had in 2025. Before the season began, Simpson definitely looked like he had the potential for a breakout season but we still needed to see it. Not only did he emerge as the top receiver in their high-powered offense, but he was also one of the best ball hawks in the state on the defensive side of the ball. Cushing has been able to produce a few of these two-way stars over the last few years. All signs point to Simpson being the next guy on that list. He’s just scratching the surface on what he can be moving forward. He’s also the perfect example of a player that is, without question, equally as valuable on both sides of the ball.

is a 2028 prospect that we are very interested in watching this season. Cushing has the talent in the backfield but they need some new names to step up at the wide receiver position. The Tigers lost their top four receivers to graduation so new names will have to emerge this season. Simpson certainly looks like a guy that could step into that role this fall. He was a player that the Cushing coaches are high on and he’s a guy that has some momentum coming into this season. He had a really successful offseason, competing on the 7v7 circuit. Now he has to go out and have that same production when the pads come on this fall.
