While we always cover younger classes, we've officially turned the page on the 2026 class to focus exclusively on the classes of 2027-2030. That means that the players who just finished their junior seasons are now in the spotlight. The new 2027 rankings will be released later this month. For the top prospects, extreme upward movement is difficult (they're already too high to move up enough to be considered "stock-risers"), so we're going to introduce you to those elite players, what they do best, and why they'll likely be playing for Power Four schools in the near future.

Scouting the Top 2027 Wide Receivers

The wide receiver position is in flux in our 2027 rankings, with several players experiencing significant upward or downward movement toward the top of the rankings. Two of our fastest rankings risers are at the top, while several players are sitting in between the "elite potential" and "elite production" stages. That makes evaluating the position difficult, and we wouldn't be surprised if these rankings looked much different in a year's time.

Roberts is a speedy option with a large route tree. He's at his best when catching the ball on the move, either on horizontal routes across the middle or vertical routes over the top. He excels at making subtle moves to create a couple of extra feet of separation, and he never lets the ball get to his body, always catching it with his hands.

Out of necessity, Dillon played a lot of quarterback as a junior, playing remarkably well as a passer. But the draw here is his elite athleticism and ability to gain yards after the catch. He operates like a smaller, shiftier receiver with the ball in his hands and almost never goes down on first contact. The extra quarterback tape actually helped him, in my eyes, because we got to see how he makes decisions on the field.

Ross' raw numbers were strong in 2025, but they're even better when you see the quarterback issues the Titans dealt with over the latter half of the season. With the starter healthy, Ross produced over 100 yards, five catches, and a touchdown per game, routinely winning 50-50 balls down the field. He's gained a ton of muscle and is an explosive athlete. As he's grown as a route-runner, we've steadily moved him up the rankings.

Spoiler: Despite my insistence that most of these guys won't be stock-risers, Thompson is slated for a massive move up our rankings board after a monster season for Crest. The speedster has become a more complete receiver, with good size, start-and-stop ability, and a more defined route tree. We're at the front end of his recruitment, but we expect him to explode on the trail soon.

Oliveira missed most of the 2025 season with an injury, which can make him a bit of a forgotten man in this receiver class. That being said, when healthy, he's quite the talent. A shifty slot receiver who can win off the line, he's an excellent route-runner to all fields. He can get behind the defense or shake defenders at the top of routes over the middle. We're excited to see him back on the field soon.
