Cotton keeps his weight down as an all-state wrestler, and you can see that background in the way he uses his hands. But he's got some pass-rushing juice, even as a sub-six-footer. He's an intelligent pass rusher who rarely guesses wrong on play action and has the quickness to beat tackles both inside and outside. His 17 sacks were among the best in the state, regardless of class. He plays a lot of 5-technique, where he can get in on tackles and use his get-off to put guys off balance. Then, he can use his speed to chase down plays from the back side. The Oregon Ducks' commit racked up 15 sacks for one of the state's top defenses last season, and he did it against quality talent. He's a speed-to-power guy who can bend around the edge or run through the chest of tackles.
