Whether you love it or hate it, the high school transfer process is a part of our game now. The dust has seemingly settled on the wave of transfers, so we're taking the time to break down a few of the impact transfers from across the state. Here, we're locked in on five impact defensive back transfers.

Five Impact Transfer Defensive Backs To Know

[player_tooltip player_id='1422524' first='Josh' last='Dobson'] | Hough

Dobson is one of the top defensive backs in the entire country, and he's joining one of the best secondaries in the state. Dobson is a prototypical corner with elite speed and length. As he moves to Hough, he should be able to hone his already impressive technique, hips, and footwork as he works towards a future as a Power Four lockdown corner.

[player_tooltip player_id='991736' first='Asaiah' last='Brown'] | Rolesville

One of the first out-of-state transfers in this series, we really like Brown's upside and think he could thrive in Rolesville's deep secondary. He thrives as an outside corner in off-man coverage, but he's flashed excellent zone awareness, and a couple of his interceptions last year were as the secondary defender in coverage. He should have an immediate impact for the Rams, and we think he could develop into a true Division 1 prospect, given his length and ball skills.

[player_tooltip player_id='1687738' first='Tyrell' last='Barze'] | Mallard Creek

Barze is a true athlete who thrived on both sides of the ball for Rocky River last season. We like him best at defensive back, where his speed and movement skills are best used. He lined up all over the defense, from a true safety to slot corner, to a hybrid-linebacker role. He's an instinctual player who makes plenty of high-level plays on the ball and always seems to be in the right place.

[player_tooltip player_id='378926' first='Davion' last='Jones'] | Hough

Jones is a fast-rising Power Four prospect who only committed to playing safety full-time in recent years. He's got plenty of length and range to make plays on balls in the air, and he's anything but afraid of contact, making him one of the top multi-faceted safety prospects in the state. We're excited to see him continue to develop and know that he's a likely Power Four starter in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630694' first='Chris' last='George'] | Scotland

After missing most of the 2025 season with an ACL tear, George is moving across town from Richmond Senior to Scotland. The highly athletic two-way player plays at 100% speed 100% of the time, something we love to see. He's best suited for an outside corner role, but he's versatile enough to come down and play the run or blitz off the edge. We're excited to see him back out on a football field this fall.
