One of the top East Tennessee offensive prospects from our #TN2027 class, Cooper capped off his stellar junior season by taking home “Mr. Football” honors for the 1A classification. The Pirates playmaker took home this award after producing more than 1,200 offensive yards this Fall along with 17 touchdowns. If the Pirates offense or team as a whole needed a big play to happen, Cooper was usually the guy. He showed off his game changing abilities last week as a key piece in his team's Class 1A championship win. Being that Cooper is a junior, look for him to be considered a top Mr. Football candidate to repeat next season.

Even though his Indians team fell short of competing for the 2A title, taking home “Mr. Football” is a very nice consolation prize for this future Southeastern Conference pass rusher. Groves earned this honor after a strong senior year that saw him produce 77 tackles with 14 of them for loss, 4.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 3 passes defended on the season. Besides his work on defense, Groves also provided action on offense as the team's tight end. The Indians senior won a lot of ball games throughout his time at East Robertson and can forever call himself “Mr. Football” after a stellar high school career.

Simpson is coming one of the better individual season's you will ever see in this state as he led his Chargers team to a 3A state title while producing staggering offensive numbers and now has a “Mr. Football” trophy in his name. This West Tennessee signal caller was named “Mr. Football” on Tuesday afternoon after a sensational sophomore year and the crazy thing is that Simpson has two years left in high school, so he should be competing for this top individual honor again and more state titles. Simpson could wind up as one of the more decorated high school players of all-time by the time his career is over.

Leading his Green Devils team to a region title and a semifinal placement in the 4A playoffs, Baugh capped off his strong senior year by taking home “Mr. Football” honors on Tuesday afternoon. Taking over the lead role at quarterback this year, Baugh didn't miss a beat as he led the Green Devils in both passing and rushing. He was a big play threat behind center that caused problems with both his arm and his legs. Taking home “Mr. Football” was a big achievement for Baugh as he had stiff competition but his overall impact on his Green Devils team led the way towards taking home top honors.

Already holding a state title to his name, Newman added another big honor by taking home “Mr. Football” on Tuesday after a stellar junior year that saw him throw for over 3,000 yards and 45 touchdowns. The Smoky Bears junior produced his best on the field work of his career this Fall and fell one game short of leading his team to back to back state championships. One of the top offensive prospects from our TN2027 class, Newman is a strong armed pocket passer that sports good mobility and a calm presence behind center. Being named “Mr. Football” for his junior season, Newman will be a prime candidate to repeat next year, especially if he leads his Smoky Bears team on another deep run to Chattanooga.

Playing on the 6A level proved to be no problem at all for this future Austin Peay quarterback as Perkins left Nashville on Tuesday as a two time “Mr. Football” winner. As a sophomore, Perkins won “Mr. Football” honors as a 5A player but can now say he has won the award in two different classifications. The Jaguars signal caller took home 6A honors this Fall after a stellar senior year that saw him pass for over 2,800 yards and 42 touchdowns while producing another 27 scores on the ground. Perkins produced a total of 69 touchdowns on the year while leading his Jaguars team to a semifinal placement in the 6A playoffs. I fully expect Perkins to continue his playmaking ways at Austin Peay and someone that could take the starting job early in his college career.

Christian as one of the more decorated, storied prospects to ever come out of the Volunteer State as he picked up his second “Mr. Football” award of his career on Wednesday to go on top of two state titles. Recently signing with Vanderbilt, Curtis is coming off his second Blue Cross Bowl championship after beating USJ, 56-7 and now can be named a two time “Mr. Football” winner. The Eagles senior was unstoppable this Fall as nobody had answers in stopping him. He will now take his big arm and athleticism to the Southeastern Conference where Curtis has a great shot at being the Commodores starting quarterback sooner than later.

Named a finalist as a junior, Marable broke through this year to take home “Mr. Football” after a sensational senior year that saw this future Columbia quarterback lead his Wildcats team to a D2-Class AA football championship. I think it was without question Marable was going to win this top honor prior to Chattanooga but after he produced 7 touchdowns in the title game win, “Mr. Football” was his to lose. The Wildcats signal caller had a banner senior year that saw him throw for 3,767 yards and 56 scores while rushing for 655 yards and another 15 touchdowns. Marable produced one of the better individual seasons of all time and now you can see this Mid-Tennessee work his magic in the Ivy League sometime in the near future.

Throughout the 2025 season, Gabriel-Georges was a near unstoppable force and because of that, along with winning the D2-Class AAA state championship, he earned “Mr. Football” honors for the second time in his Red Raiders career. This junior ball carrier definitely earned this award after his nearly 1,750 plus yard, 27 touchdown season that was done against strong competition week in and week out. Whenever the Red Raiders needed something big to happen, Gabriel-Georges delivered. He had heisman-like moments multiple times this year, including a 435 yard, 7 touchdown game. Returning next year as a senior, Gabriel-Georges has a great shot at being a 3-time “Mr. Football” winner due to his Baylor team being a strong contender at repeating as state champions.

Coming off an appearance in the D2-Class AAA state title game, Bauchiero gets to officially end his high school career as a “Mr. Football” winner after taking home the award on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles kicker was consistent all year long while showing off a strong right leg that you will see in a Rice uniform one day. Bauchiero was the lone specialist to sign last week and is the lone specialist to be currently ranked among our TN2026 top prospects. Look for his ranking to rise in our upcoming update after a strong senior season.
