DGA Flight Squad 7v7 tryout scouting notes

<p>Prep Redzone Tennessee was in attendance for the DGA Flight Squad 7v7 tryouts on December 4th to take in the event and there were a plethora of talented prospects at the event.</p>   <p>Daryl Graham, the leader of the organization, has a strong nucleus of talent on his hands right now especially with some new additions.</p>   <p>Here are some scouting takeaways from a quick first look at the talent that the organization has to work with at the moment.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">QUARTERBACKS</h2>   <p>There was some solid quarterbacks in attendance and two showed some really good attributes during the event.</p>   <p>Silverdale Baptist Academy 2027 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1535798' first='Connor' last='Jenne'] is an intriguing athlete with a lively arm that can make the throws downfield and over the middle.</p>   <p>He comes from an athletic family that includes a brother playing Division One football. He is a former basketball player that is putting notably more focus on his football talents this offseason which will be exciting to see how it translates to the field.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/shaynep_media/status/1998468840049574220?s=46 </div></figure>   <p>Oakland 2029 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='424644' first='Kam' last='Morton'] won a state championship on Saturday and was getting reps in on Sunday.</p>   <p>He has a strong arm with great anticipation that allows for him to make any throw, which he showed often this season.</p>   <p>Morton was pushed as a leader to get his offense aligned quickly and he responded in a cool, calm, and collected manner that led to high-quality results.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/shaynep_media/status/1998187987176431966?s=46 </div></figure>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">RECEIVERS</h2>   <p>There was a solid group of receivers for the quarterbacks to target, led by Beech 2028 standout athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1028041' first='Jeramy' last='Laster'] Jr.</p>   <p>He is an explosive athlete that can generate separation and can slice through a defense to find the open space.</p>   <p>He was simply a baller for Beech in his first season on varsity and he seems to be trending in a positive direction from the summer to now.</p>   <p>Jeramy is another prospect that has exciting athletic ability within his family.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/shaynep_media/status/1998422902061101161?s=46 </div></figure>   <p>Blackman 2028 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1030583' first='Brycen' last='Mitchell'] looked encouraging and like the prospect with breakout potential next season that I was hoping to see.</p>   <p>It remains to be seen which side of the ball he ultimately ends up on, but he has intriguing size, athleticism and ball skills.</p>   <p>Lipscomb Academy 2029 receiver Nicholas Pointer showed flashes throughout the event with good movement skills and deceleration ability.</p>   <p>2030 prospect Kelan Taylor was someone that I was excited to finally get eyes upon and he did not disappoint with great size, athleticism, and ability already. </p>   <p>He could be an instant impact freshman for whichever high school he chooses.</p>   <p>Springfield 2027 receiver JJ Adams is a new name on my radar following the event.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">DEFENSIVE BACKS</h2>   <p>There was an intriguing group of perimeter players at the event and that certainly included defensive back prospects.</p>   <p>I watched Alcoa 2027 cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1617434' first='Mason' last='Laster'] for the first time in the state championship and for the second time at the 7v7 tryout event. Both times impressed me.</p>   <p>He is a smooth-mover at the position with good size and instinctual ball skills.</p>   <p>He is quick when he breaks on the ball, leading to a lot of plays on the ball and forced turnovers. He could be a really strong zone corner especially.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/connersmith04/status/1997824983549255787?s=46 </div></figure>   <p>USJ 2027 safety [player_tooltip player_id='1687518' first='Bradley' last='Stamper'] is huge at 6-foot-4 and is a fluid, natural mover.</p>   <p>He has some ball skills and with his movement ability at that length, can take out an entire read by himself. He has the potential to be a significant riser this offseason.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/shaynep_media/status/1997763250599973010?s=46 </div></figure>   <p>Goodpasture 2027 Brandon Leavell has impressed as both a receiver and defensive back, with his potential being on the defensive side in my opinion.</p>   <p>He has very attractive length, speed, and ball skills.</p>   <p>Blackman 2027 safety [player_tooltip player_id='1648722' first='Felix' last='Mitchell'] has promising tools and got a lot better and more confident as the day continued.</p>   <p></p>
