Time to take a live look at the quarterbacks that took over the Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase in Aberdeen last Sunday. We meet a handful of new names, onces that have shined in the live eval back to back weeks, and our top performers and QB MVP that were named on Sunday

The fastest 40-yard dash in the quarterback group came from right up the road in 2029 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2044788' first='Asher' last='Johnson'] of Groton. The 5'10 166 pounder, ran a 4.7 in the 40, 4.59 in the pro shuttle, and 7.42 in the L-drill all of which are very intriguing from an athletic profile perspective especially as just a freshmen. Watching his reps during Indy drills, we I was impressed with the poise this young man had inside the pocket for his age and certainly watching his throws you could tell right away the upside that he has at the quarterback position as a first-year starter for Groton. One that you should certainly see on our next 2029 rankings update.

Our top-rated athlete in the 2029 class [player_tooltip player_id='1746596' first='Thatcher' last='Kihne'] of Herreid-Selby was in attendance at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase in the quarterback group. He was another quarterback that thrived with his change of direction for his age, going 4.69 in the pro shuttle and got in my eyes quicker with his release out of the pocket from our last tape eval we did on him in the 2029 class. On the throws I watched, Thatcher showed off good and growing precision getting his wide receivers upfield on the throws he was able to make. The upside that Thatcher has is surely going to keep growing as there are very few quarterbacks in this class that run a sub 5 in the 40-yard dash as I feel he is going to be one that has opportunities was his position flexiblity alone in the coming years in what is a well-coached program at Herreid-Selby.

Hudson is a 2027 gunslinger out of Northern Cass that I felt moved up my quarterback board in the North Dakota rankings from his live eval on Sunday. His quick release was more eye-catching in person that what you might see on tape and there was solid efficency in the reps I watched him throw with it throughout the day in Aberdeen. I could tell watching his tape pre-showcase that he had some elusiveness out of the pocket and that checked the box when I saw his 7.18 L-drill he ran on Sunday which was in the top two at the quarterback position as Hudson showed off how balanced he was with his touch throws from outside of the pocket. My bet would be he moves up a couple QB spots by next update.

Noah was a newer name to my radar pre-showcase and I like what I saw out of the reps that came thru at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase. The 6'3 172 pounder from Williston ran a very impressive 4.5 in the pro shuttle which is quite impressive with the size he has at his disposal. He showed off that he knows how to utilize his arm strength to give his wide receivers the best avenues to succeed on their routes and that was evident in watching his throws in Aberdeen as he has a big arm that he can utilize when he needs to throw in tight windows. The release also was quicker in the live eval than I was expecting which was a great sign to see. He showed off one of the better arm talents I have seen out of the incoming classes out of Western North Dakota, with proficency on all three levels of the field.

If you wonder why I love the live eval so much, 2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='2080210' first='Tucker' last='Kosen'] of Fargo Davies is a great reason why. I saw him two Sundays ago at the ND Grind Elite 7v7 tryout in Fargo and after watching him I reached out to him at the tryout and told him that we'd love to have him at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase based on what I saw. Fast forward to last Sunday, he was in our top-performer QB group at the end of our showcase as he showed exactly why we wanted him in attendance. Tucker had one of the deepest arms in the quarterback group and not only that he was persistent as far as his accuracy on all three levels. Tucker showed it back to back weeks, the more he gets in a rhythm throw after throw, the more locked in he becomes with his throws as that was again the case in Aberdeen this weekend. Surely a 2028 quarterback out of Davies that you should know now, not later.

Javi was another 2028 quarterback that I was fired up that was in attendance again at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase as one of the best quarterbacks in our 2028 South Dakota class that should certainly get the nod for QB1 next year at Sioux Falls Washington. It was clear to me when he was an 8th grader that he was going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the state in this class and watching what I saw on Sunday with his development showed it even more. He's gotten even smoother with his throwing mechanics even since his freshmen season and in my eyes had some of the best poise you could see inside the pocket in Aberdeen amongst the quarterback group. In the throws I watched, Javi was super efficent on all three levels and took a step up with his ball placement and utilizing the proper arm strength for each route that he threw. He was one of three 2028 quarterbacks that was a top performer at the end of our showcase as it was pretty evident as to why, as you could see Javi's arm talent from across the Aberdeen Dome on Sunday.

Another top-performer from our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase last Sunday in Aberdeen, was our QB3 in the 2027 class and one that I had in my projected top performers prior to the showcase, Rapid City Stevens quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1212271' first='Austin' last='Flohr']. Austin was one of my favorite quarterbacks on the day when it came down to his ball placement with his receivers, as I caught wind of plenty of throws that were not only right on the money for advancement on his wide receiver's routes, but he also threw some of the some most balanced throws when it came to touch that I saw within the quarterback group. Another skillset that I caught from Austin, was his poise on Sunday as I have watched a handful of Raiders games throughout the last couple of seasons and seeing what I saw in Aberdeen, I don't think Austin gets enough credit for how poised he is when working inside a cleaner pocket. He will certainly go up to my QB2 spot after getting this live eval last Sunday in our upcoming 2027 South Dakota rankings.

Saving the best for last, we meet our QB MVP from our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase on Sunday, which was Minot's [player_tooltip player_id='1596559' first='Ryder' last='Sutton'] who is also our consesus QB1 in the North Dakota 2028 class. I did have too many quarterbacks on my early eye test before testing got started, but Ryder was one that certainly stuck out from his last time at our showcase in Aberdeen. You could grasp early, that Ryder is workhorse with every rep he is given as he attacked the early reps pre-showcase with attentive vision and man, could he pick up his top speed quickly. You can see why when you look at the testing numbers Ryder put up. He went 4.4 in the pro shuttle and a whopping 6.9 in the L-drill. He was another quarterback my gut told me pre-showcase that had an opportunity to win the QB MVP and he did so with ease. He has monster arm-strength and excellent ball placement that he showed all-day at our Prep Redzone Showcase and no-doubt is a wrecking force outside of the pocket with use of his legs. Ryder should surely be an early offer in this 2028 class that Division 1 schools should make.
