Groton Pop. 1380
Next we head 15 minutes east of Aberdeen to Groton, South Dakota which is a usual stop for me after our Dakotas Showcase to get gasoline and snacks for my long drives home. They’ve had some athletes in recent years out of Groton, and one my favorite in the 2029 class is our QB2 in the class which is

. Asher was another that finished in my top tier at his position at May’s Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase and when you peak the tape you can see why. He has a well-placed deep ball that really passes the eye test for how well he can progress his wide receivers downfield. I’ve pointed it out before and I’ll stand on this hill, there is not a more athletic quarterback in this class than Asher that I have seen progress outside of the pocket like he can thus far.

Asher finished in my top-tier amongst the quarterback group at our spring Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase which really had me thinking when it comes to his ranking placement in this 2029 class as a newcomer. He’s also got the athletic traits that already has a couple of years of varsity experience under his belt. Will he be in my top-tier QB 2029 group in South Dakota? He’s got himself a good chance due to that experience noted. More to come on Asher in the coming days.

Without question, the best athleticism we saw on Saturday in Sioux Falls at the quarterback position belonged to Groton 2029 quarterback

. He tested in our top 5 in attendance with a 4.77 40-yard dash on lasers, showed off his elusiveness with an inside a top 10 finish in the L-drill at 7.34, and the explosiveness is surely going to elevate even further with an 8’10 broad jump which finished #10 overall at our Dakotas Showcase, all for a quarterback prospect just about to enter his sophomore year at Groton. He got out of the pocket swiftly in the reps I watched and I became more intirgued with his release outside of it the more I watched Asher’s reps on Saturday at Augustana. He also has sound mechanics I felt for his age, that have so much time to still grow as he has three years left under his belt of high school football to develop. Surely one that will be a surefire new name to our 2029 South Dakota rankings update.

of Groton. The 5’10 166 pounder, ran a 4.7 in the 40, 4.59 in the pro shuttle, and 7.42 in the L-drill all of which are very intriguing from an athletic profile perspective especially as just a freshmen. Watching his reps during Indy drills, we I was impressed with the poise this young man had inside the pocket for his age and certainly watching his throws you could tell right away the upside that he has at the quarterback position as a first-year starter for Groton. One that you should certainly see on our next 2029 rankings update.
