Expert Analysis
Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Ryder showed noticeable arm talent at camp, consistently delivering the ball with strong velocity and zip on his throws. What stood out just as much was how his footwork supported his passing ability—he stayed balanced in the pocket, set his base quickly, and was able to generate power without overstriding. That combination allowed him to get the ball out on time with real force behind it.

Ryder also showed well at the Texas camp, especially with the way he threw the ball with nice touch throughout the session. He did a good job varying his throws, layering passes over defenders when needed and taking something off the ball to lead receivers into space. That feel for timing and placement stood out during route work and competitive periods.

Ryder has meat-grinder of a camp schedule, but I am thrilled to see what he is able to show off to schools in his home state of Texas, here in the Dakotas, and other camps in the Midwest and South. He had a great showing at the Elite 11 this winter and got on the radar of our NE scouts in attendance. He’s grown a ton over the last year with his dual-threat mobility outside of the pocket. Ryder has natural poise and precision that we have talked about a ton and has grown excellent timing with his receivers over the last couple years and with a couple years left under his belt, he’s only going to get even better. Surely a 2028 quarterback that I would offer early if I were a Division 1 school.

Sutton made his presence felt early in the North East. The North Dakota QB, was named the Accuracy Challenge Co Winner in the 2028 Class. The 6’0″ 185-Pound QB, had an impressive day against some of the top QB’s across the north east. He showcased a strong arm, with good footwork. I liked his ability to throw a quick strike, while keeping the ball at a perfect level. His comeback routes were excellent, and he put the ball on the money on every throw. The Midwest QB, dominated in the North East this past weekend.

who is also our consesus QB1 in the North Dakota 2028 class. I did have too many quarterbacks on my early eye test before testing got started, but Ryder was one that certainly stuck out from his last time at our showcase in Aberdeen. You could grasp early, that Ryder is workhorse with every rep he is given as he attacked the early reps pre-showcase with attentive vision and man, could he pick up his top speed quickly. You can see why when you look at the testing numbers Ryder put up. He went 4.4 in the pro shuttle and a whopping 6.9 in the L-drill. He was another quarterback my gut told me pre-showcase that had an opportunity to win the QB MVP and he did so with ease. He has monster arm-strength and excellent ball placement that he showed all-day at our Prep Redzone Showcase and no-doubt is a wrecking force outside of the pocket with use of his legs. Ryder should surely be an early offer in this 2028 class that Division 1 schools should make.

Ryder was a contender for quarterback MVP his last time out at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase and he got his title on Sunday showing exactly why he is our QB1 in the 2028 class out of North Dakota. He showed off the strong arm talent on all three levels as every throw I watched had some heat on it no matter where on the field Ryder was throwing it in to. He also was improved with his ball placement as all the throws he completed where on the moeny to get his wide receiver upfield. Easily the highest poise level in the quarterback group as Ryder was cool, calm and collected when he was dialed in during 1v1s. He’s also grown from an athletic standpoint, as took 4th on our scoreboard on our new Universal Speed in the pro shuttle with a 4.4 flat which is impressive, as Ryder was the only quartertback on any of those scoreboards from Sunday.

is signed up for our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase and I would expect him to surely be one competing for QB MVP on Sunday. He grew in his sophomore season developing a quicker release and growing his precision with his throws on all three levels. His elsuiveness too will be something I will be watching for in Aberdeen on Sunday making throws out of the pocket, as that is another area that saw a lot of growth in his sophomore season.

We had a gut feeling our QB1 in the North Dakota 2028 class would have a big sophomore season, but I feel Ryder has even taken the top off of those expectations. A week or so ago, he led 11AAA in passing yards, rushing yards, and was third overall in rushing yards outside of the quarterback position with nearly 1000 total yards already for the Magicians. We were well aware that Ryder had the best arm talent in this ND 2028 class, but man the mobility outside of the pocket he is showing off is moving the needle in my eyes even more as a prospect.
