Texas State Camp Recap

The Texas State camp last night was a great opportunity for athletes from all over Texas to get in front of the Bobcats coaching staff and compete against some talented players. The energy was high throughout the evening, and there were plenty of prospects who took advantage of the spotlight to help their recruiting stock. Some athletes left San Marcos knowing they had put themselves firmly on Texas State's recruiting board, while others earned offers after strong performances during drills and competition periods. From the younger prospects looking to make a name for themselves to the upperclassmen chasing college opportunities, the camp was filled with talent and competition. Overall, it was a productive night that gave several players a chance to move one step closer to achieving their college football goals. He showed good body control, stayed balanced through each movement, and looked comfortable competing in front of college coaches. His attention to detail was noticeable, especially when working through technique-focused stations, where he consistently stayed locked in and focused on improving each rep. The linebacker looked sharp at Texas State, moving well during drills and showing the kind of instincts that allow him to play fast and react quickly. He stayed active throughout the camp, competed with intensity, and showed a physical presence that coaches look for at the position. He moved smoothly through the bag drills, showing good foot quickness and staying controlled while maintaining speed through each rep. Omari's ability to stay composed while working fast gives him a strong foundation to build on as he continues developing his game this offseason. He moved with smooth quickness out of the slot and created separation with sharp cuts and sudden changes of direction. Regge was offered by Texas State after camp.     Jamin showed up at the Texas camp with real speed and brought energy every time he stepped on the field. At wide receiver, he consistently threatened defenders vertically, using his burst off the line to get into routes quickly and create separation early. He looked comfortable working through drills at a fast pace, staying controlled while still playing with urgency. Jamin is a WR to look forward too in 2026.     Chance showed a lot of resilience and consistency across both camps I was able to see him at. At Trinity Camp, he put together a solid showing where he looked comfortable in coverage, competed well through reps, and gave himself a chance to make plays on the ball. Fast forward to the Texas State camp last night, and he maintained that same level of play, staying active and engaged throughout the session. He showed quick, controlled footwork in his releases and did a good job staying patient before attacking defenders. In route work, he was sharp getting in and out of breaks, keeping his body balanced and creating clean separation at the top of routes. He took coaching well, made quick adjustments, and didn't repeat the same mistakes, which stood out to the staff watching. His technique continued to clean up as the drills went on. The thing that really stood out with Ethan was his recovery speed. Even when he got slightly out of phase in coverage, he showed the ability to close ground quickly and get back into position, which is a big trait for a defensive back.     Gage showed a really strong understanding of route running during one-on-ones and consistently found ways to get open. He moved with purpose in and out of breaks, keeping defenders off balance and creating separation with timing rather than just speed. He was active with his feet, stayed engaged through reps, and competed well against different looks. What stood out was how coachable he was he took in a lot of instruction, made adjustments on the fly, and showed improvement as the period went on. He also had a solid sophomore season on film, where he showed flashes of consistency and toughness up front. With that foundation already in place, there's a lot of anticipation for what he can do this upcoming year as he continues to develop physically and refine his technique     Jahmahri, the 6'1 DB with long arms, had a strong showing and really stood out physically throughout the day. He showed good hip fluidity in coverage, flipping and transitioning smoothly during drills while staying controlled in his movements. What also stood out was how well he took coaching and put that coaching into action. Jamahri held and offer from Nevada and received one Texas state last night.     I was really impressed with Carson's route running and his ability to track the ball, it all looked very natural for him throughout the session. He ran routes with good tempo and control, showing he understands how to create separation without wasted movement. What stood out most was how smooth he was getting in and out of breaks, staying balanced while still maintaining speed through his cuts.   In the passing game, his ball tracking really stood out as well. He moved smoothly through each station, showing quick feet and good body control. Xavier showed he can also run routes out the back field and catch.     Collin looked sharp in his route running during the session and showed he can create separation in different ways. He wasn't just relying on straight speed he used subtle pacing, head movement, and clean footwork to keep defenders off balance. Even though he's still developing at the position, his natural athletic ability stood out right away. He moved well in space, showed good burst getting in and out of breaks, and looked comfortable adjusting to the demands of the receiver role.     Derrick Long at wide receiver showed exactly what he can bring to the field and made his presence felt during the session. He moved with confidence through drills, showing good body control and the ability to get in and out of breaks efficiently     Casen looked solid during camp and handled himself well throughout the offensive line drills. He showed good effort in every rep, stayed engaged with coaching, and continued to make adjustments as the session went on. His footwork looked steady, and he did a good job staying balanced while working through different blocking techniques.     Cade showed some real flashes on the defensive line, especially with his get-off at the snap. He came off the ball with good timing and quick first-step explosiveness, which allowed him to immediately put pressure on blockers. That initial burst stood out and helped him win early in reps before linemen could fully set their base.     Wayne showed some real positives throughout his reps, especially with a clean, quick release that allowed the ball to come out on time. His whip was smooth and efficient, helping him get the ball out without extra movement or hesitation. What stood out was how fast the ball came out of his hand and being able to hit WRs on stride. Wayne was offered by Texas State.     Rock showed some really intriguing tools at the tight end position, especially with how well he can run for his size. He moved smoothly in space, showed good straight-line burst, and looked natural getting up the field as a pass catcher. That athletic ability gives him a real advantage when he's split out or working down the seam.     Perry showed some real aggressiveness during camp and brought a physical edge to the defensive line group. He played with strong energy off the ball, attacking reps with intent and not backing down from contact. He stayed engaged, listened closely to instruction, and made visible adjustments as the drill work went on. For a young prospect, that ability to absorb information and apply it quickly is a great sign of growth and maturity.     Luke looked good at the Texas camp at wide receiver and showed why his athletic ability stands out in that role. He moved well in space, showing good straight-line speed and the ability to separate when getting into his routes. Luke had a diving catch showed his effort to make plays.     Justis is just getting started as a member of the Class of 2030, but the early flashes already show real potential on both sides of the ball. He moves with natural athletic ability and shows comfort competing in different roles, which speaks to his versatility at this stage of his development. Will Definitely keep an close on justis as head to high school.     Gavin was explosive at the Texas State camp and showed it every time he touched the field at wide receiver. He accelerated quickly off the line, consistently threatening defenders vertically and forcing them to open up early in coverage. That burst allowed him to create separation fast, especially during drill work and competitive reps where timing and speed stood out. He also showed soft hands .     Tristan looked good during the session and showed a solid foundation at quarterback, especially with his base and lower-body control. He stayed balanced which helped him consistently generate good drive on his throws without overexerting his motion. That stability allowed him to deliver the ball on time and with solid velocity throughout drills.     Carter, a Class of 2029 offensive lineman, took in a lot of coaching during the session and showed real growth as the work progressed. He stayed locked in on instruction, made adjustments quickly, and didn't repeat mistakes, which stood out for a young prospect still learning the position.   In pass protection work, he looked really solid working his drop back, showing a good base and balance throughout each rep. He stayed controlled with his feet, kept his body square, and did a nice job staying in position while moving through different looks     Cox had a good day yesterday and looked sharp as a route runner, showing real comfort getting in and out of his breaks. He moved with good tempo and control, which helped him consistently create separation during reps. What stood out was his understanding of how to set defenders up, using subtle movement and timing to gain an edge.     Ryder also showed well at the Texas camp, especially with the way he threw the ball with nice touch throughout the session. He did a good job varying his throws, layering passes over defenders when needed and taking something off the ball to lead receivers into space. That feel for timing and placement stood out during route work and competitive periods.     Darian looked good at the camp and showed why he was able to turn heads at wide receiver. He moved well through drills, showed clean route running, and consistently created separation when working against defenders. What stood out was his ability to stay composed and make plays when the ball came his way, finishing catches. Darian was later offered by Texas after camp.    Overall, the Texas State camp was a competitive and productive environment from start to finish, giving athletes a real chance to showcase their skills in front of the Bobcats coaching staff.
