The next two quarterbacks have something in common, as they have both been on my radar since they were 8th graders and yet again on Saturday, it was another top-tier performance from Sioux Falls Washington’s Javi Vazquez Javi Vazquez 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Washington | 2028 State SD . I just got a very recent live eval of Javi at the 612Qs Camp in St. Paul around a month ago, but even in that short time, I thought his poise in the pocket grew quite a bit especially with the high amount of reps the quarterback group got on Saturday. He could make every throw that was given to him on all three levels, and from all the reps I got to watch, he hit on just about all of them as Javi has always been one that grows his chemistry with his receivers, very quickly. I’ve said it recently and I’ll keep saying it, I surely think this young man is an early offer college coaches should make this summer at camps as his stock only continues to grow.

I always love it when I see my South Dakota quarterbacks come in to a Midwest camp and then surprise and dominate, as that was the case with our QB MVP from the 612 Skills Camp, as Javi Vazquez Javi Vazquez 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Washington | 2028 State SD of Sioux Falls Washington took it home. Javi’s been on my radar since he was a middle schooler and has been a bunch of our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcases, but there were skillsets that I saw grow since December. The biggest area of growth for Javi, to me was his poise in the pocket, as regardless of class he was the most poised quarterback inside and outside of the pocket as his throws were always on time. The amount of throws that Javi made on all three levels, showed off his excellent touch for each level of the field. There’s a reason why I believe he’s an early offer target in this South Dakota 2028 class incoming.

Representing the always-talented and always-underappreciated 605 and Sioux Falls area, Washington High School has a real-deal talent on their hands in 2028 Javi Vazquez Javi Vazquez 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Washington | 2028 State SD . An ATV of a sophomore signal-caller, Vazquez made the 3 hour and 45 minute drive to Concordia-St. Paul more than count, coming in at 6’3, 201 lbs. and popping of some strong, laser-verified testing numbers for a sophomore and really catching the eye and exciting the various college coaches and media in attendance. Oh yeah, and he earned MVP honors from 612Q’s Offensive Skills Camp’s loaded staff of counselors. Big, athletic, and with a cannon of a right arm, Vazquez was flicking the pigskin around with noticeable accuracy and command, and he stretching the field vertically with as much as ease as anyone in attendance. Not only was Vazquez consistent, the 200+ lber. was able to easily complete tougher throws on the route tree with noticeable ease, and according to PRZDAK Head Scout Nate Wahl Nate Wahl 5'8" | 210 lbs | DL Big Lake | 2027 MN , Vazquez is the likely starter for Washington in 2026. Fun QB name to watch out of Sioux Falls, lady and gentleman!

Javi was another 2028 quarterback that I was fired up that was in attendance again at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase as one of the best quarterbacks in our 2028 South Dakota class that should certainly get the nod for QB1 next year at Sioux Falls Washington. It was clear to me when he was an 8th grader that he was going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the state in this class and watching what I saw on Sunday with his development showed it even more. He’s gotten even smoother with his throwing mechanics even since his freshmen season and in my eyes had some of the best poise you could see inside the pocket in Aberdeen amongst the quarterback group. In the throws I watched, Javi was super efficent on all three levels and took a step up with his ball placement and utilizing the proper arm strength for each route that he threw. He was one of three 2028 quarterbacks that was a top performer at the end of our showcase as it was pretty evident as to why, as you could see Javi’s arm talent from across the Aberdeen Dome on Sunday.

It’s worth repeating as I heard it not once, but multiple times “there is no way that kid is a freshman,” was a common quote that came from college coaches on Saturday in Aberdeen. Here at PRZ Dakotas, we have had Javi on our board as an 8th grader, so it was no surprise to me that he was in our top-tier amongst the quarterback group on Saturday. The poise Javi has continues to grow inside the pocket and man, can this young man grow chemistry quickly with his wide receiving core as I was super impressed with his ball placement on all three levels on just about every route I witnessed. At nearly 6’3 200 pounds, Javi also saw growth with his pro agility number, with a 4.72 with is sound for his size and class. We could certainly be looking at our SD 2028 classes new QB1 here in a couple weeks, stay tuned.

Another top tier 2028 quarterback that will be at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase is QB2 in the SD 2028 class in Sioux Falls Washington quarterback Javi Vazquez Javi Vazquez 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Washington | 2028 State SD . Javi is a QB prospect we identified early as an 8th grader, as even back then it was clear the poise in the pocket, quick release for his age, and his developing football IQ were going to pay off dividends in his high school years, as we have already seen that progression. His quick intuition he has on intermediate and deep routes should trend well against the competition we have in attendance on Saturday as a 2028 in our top 5 overall as we project him to be an early offer QB from this class already.
