Resuming our all-state selections of 2025, we move up to Class 2A Iowa, which included an impressive variety of upper and underclassmen that have both thrived as bright young leaders for their teams while also painting a bright future for this 2A conference with many of these studs set to return going forward after having already established their value in this conference. We take a look at the all-state selections from Class 2A Iowa for 2025!

First Team Offense:

[player_tooltip player_id='1242935' first='Brock' last='Badding'], SR, Kuemper Catholic

Having steadily grown since starting in his sophomore year, Badding was in full stride in 2025 as Kuemper Catholic completed a perfect campaign. Badding led the 2A conference with 3079 passing yards and 37 TDs while rushing for 4 more, setting the conference ablaze as he led the offense toward winning every game by 2 or more possession scores.

RB:

[player_tooltip player_id='1901425' first='Laken' last='Caves'], JR, Alburnett

Caves transitioned cleanly from 1A to 2A with the rest of the Pirates, and with that earns a second straight first-team all-state selection at RB. Caves finished with 1880 rushing yards (8 YPC) and 22 rushing TDs while adding 31 receptions for 390 yards and 3 TDs as he helped guide the team to the quarterfinal round.

[player_tooltip player_id='1621099' first='Jarin' last='Hoffman'], JR, Kuemper Catholic

Hoffman was the perfect workhorse to balance out the Knights' explosive passing attack. Hoffman finished with 1671 rushing yards (6.4 YPC) and 23 rushing TDs along with 20 receptions for 162 yards and 3 TDs during the season. Hoffman ran for 174 yards and 2 TDs as he led the Knights' offense to steamroll Van Meter in the 2A championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='1242944' first='Hudson' last='Ehrenfelt'], SR, Mid-Prairie

The most effective dual-threat RB in the conference, Ehrenfelt finished as both the Golden Hawks' leading rusher and receiver. Ehrenfelt ran for 1042 yards (5.5 YPC) and 15 rushing TDs while adding 615 receiving yards on 36 receptions and 6 TDs.

WR:

[player_tooltip player_id='1923069' first='Keenan' last='Kilburg'], SR, Bellevue

The connection between Kilburg and QB [player_tooltip player_id='1614201' first='Cal' last='Bonifas'] over the last two seasons has been unlike any other in the state, and it contributed to another huge season from the two. Kilburg led not just the conference, but also the state in both receptions (103) and receiving yards (1477) while scoring 14 TDs, adding 193 rushing yards (5.5 YPC) and 2 rushing TDs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2075898' first='Luke' last='Thoreson'], JR, Roland-Story

Roland-Story's offense took a big step forward in 2025, and a big reason for that was thanks to the breakout campaign from Thoreson, who emerged with 1206 receiving yards on 75 receptions and a conference-high 16 TDs in his junior season.

TE:

[player_tooltip player_id='1370695' first='Brayden' last='Hoben'], SR, Grand View Christian

A familiar name in our radar, Hoben moves from second-team to first-team all state selection as a senior as he once again thrived as the leading target for the Thunder. The future SDSU Jackrabbit finished his senior season with 698 receiving yards on 50 receptions and 8 TDs.

OL:

[player_tooltip player_id='1370600' first='Mason' last='Campbell'], SR, Cherokee Washington

The leading blocker for a Braves' offense which finished with the most rushing yards and rushing TDs (47) in the conference last season, Campbell's performance helped guide Cherokee Washington to their highest win total since 2006 as Campbell will be taking his talents to the NAIA level at Northwestern College in 2026.

[player_tooltip player_id='1393166' first='Nate' last='Brenneman'], JR, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley

Brenneman has the makings of a stud Left Tackle with his frame, motor, and impressive prowess both as a pass protector and run blocker. Brenneman flashed as a consistent standout while also helping the Nighthawks' offense take some valuable steps forward following back-to-back 1-8 campaigns. Some extra bulk this offseason should make Brenneman a must-watch prospect next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1694834' first='Reid' last='Steger'], JR, Kuemper Catholic

A prototypical Right Tackle who fully backs up his dangerous size, Steger was the leading force on the trenches for the Knights' offense, allowing them to run with full proficiency in both the pass and the run en route to a perfect campaign for the 2A title. With Steger returning in 2026, the Knights' offense should remain very dangerous.

[player_tooltip player_id='1077234' first='Hayden' last='Shannon'], SO, PCM

Since seeing significant playing time as a freshman for the Mustangs, Shannon has continued to prove why he's the real deal at Guard. Shannon helped PCM finish with the second highest scoring offense (41.4 PPG) in the conference while also finishing with the 3rd most total rushing yards and rushing TDs (37).

[player_tooltip player_id='1250804' first='Calan' last='Peters'], SR, Okoboji

The centerpiece of the Pioneers' offensive line, their numbers weren't as flashy as several of the other teams on this list, but with Peters' rock-solid leadership, they were very consistent, guiding the team to their second straight winning season and their highest win total since 2008. That leadership should translate well at Air Force, where he committed back in June.

First Team Defense:

A two-way standout on the trenches both at Guard and at DT, Diehl thrived in shutting down the run, playing a big part in limiting their opponents to just 13.8 PPG, the second lowest total in the conference. Diehl's 14 sacks ranked second most in the entire state, finishing with a total of 54 tackles, 18 TFLs, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries along the way.

[player_tooltip player_id='1924004' first='Eaghan' last='Fleshman'], SO, Alburnett

Another sophomore breakout star, Fleshman has quickly fleshed out into one of the most feared pass-rushers in the state. His 26.5 TFLs led the 2A conference as he recorded 56 tackles, 8 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and an interception last season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1241501' first='Gatlin' last='Rogers'], SR, Wilton

While known primarily as a TE, Rogers has been a premier pass-rusher for the Beavers' defense. Rogers finished with 70.5 tackles (46 solo), 23 TFLs, 8 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles during his senior season, including a sack during Wilton's comeback playoff victory over PCM.

Keegan Fenton, SR, PCM

Fenton led the way for a potent defense that had one of the best overall tackling units in the state. Fenton finished with 61 total tackles (54 solo), 18 TFLs, and 9 sacks during his senior campaign.

Langley was the clear bright spot for a Tigers' team which struggled to a 1-8 campaign last season. Langley led the conference with 103 tackles (59 solo) to go with 13 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Jack Badding, SR, Kuemper Catholic

The Knights' 55 sacks as a group last season led the entire state by a wide margin, and Badding was one of three players on the Knights' defense that had double-digit sacks. Badding finished with 57 tackles (40 solo), 17 TFLs, 13 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception as he rounded out his high school career with a state championship.

The starting QB for PCM put up great numbers under Center last season, but it was his impact on the secondary that garnered him a spot on the all-state team. Wagaman finished with 37 tackles (34 solo), 7 passes defended, and 8 interceptions with one returned for a TD.

[player_tooltip player_id='2005674' first='Gavin' last='Steenhoek'], SR, PCM

Steenhoek had just as big of an impact on the secondary for the Mustangs during his senior season, finishing with 19 tackles (16 solo), 8 passes defended, 7 interceptions, and 2 defensive TDs. Steenhoek and Wagaman would ultimately account for 15 of the team's 18 interceptions last season.

Gabe Brisker, SR, Wilton
