Class A Senior Watchlist for the 2025 season
Cal Bonifas struggled playing in garbage time as a sophomore, so it was a pleasant surprise for Bellevue...
After completing 157-of-239 passes (65.7%) for 1,928 yards, 17 touchdowns and eight picks over ten games last season, Bonifas has reached an entirely new level in 2025. Now a senior for Bellevue, Bonifas has completed 160-of-228 passes (70.2%) for 2,194 yards, 23 scores and eight picks in seven games, leading the Comets to an undefeated record to this point in the year. The only quarterback to exceed 2,000 passing yards so far, Bonifas leads the state in passing by 342 yards.

finds himself in the No. 3 spot in production from last season. Passing for 1,928 yards while completing 65.7% of his passes from last season, Bonifas was a solid, efficient passer, throwing for 17 touchdowns to eight picks.
Moving up from Class A to Class 2A is a daunting task, but with the numbers Bonifas put up last season, Bellevue — which resides about 25 minutes southeast of Dubuque — will have a shot to compete in 2025.

struggled playing in garbage time as a sophomore, so it was a pleasant surprise for Bellevue when Bonifas found his stride when he took the starting QB job in 2024. Bonifas finished with 1928 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 8 picks this season. Bonifas looked very confident in the pocket, and he made some impressively accurate throws, especially in the redzone. I was very impressed with his improvisational skills, being able to elude defenders and extend the play to find his receivers down the field. Bonifas led Bellevue to their best win total since 2018, and Bellevue could become a legitimate contender in Class A heading into 2025 with Bonifas leading the way.
