Early Signing Day Reactions

<!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The James Franklin Effect is fully underway:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Not only did new Virginia Tech Head Coach James Franklin bring most of his prior commits with him including Patriot's[player_tooltip player_id='1297598' first='Mathieu' last='Lamah'] and Trinity Episcopal [player_tooltip player_id='212451' first='Davion' last='Brown'], he also was able to successfully flip Nansemond River star [player_tooltip player_id='1149062' first='Tyrell' last='Grant Jr']. Flipping Grant was one of the biggest stunners locally for me anyhow, previously committing to Syracuse before the season, he seemed locked in with the Orangemen (He even put out a tweet right after my recruiting report article). Nonetheless when he did confirm he will be enrolling with the Hokies I could not help but pump my first in the air. Grant has been an underrated star for a couple seasons now and him balling out at our showcases last year helped put him on the FBS map. Before our showcases he was considered maybe a FCS/Low D1 prospect, now he will be playing in the ACC, what a rise this young man has been on. In our top 50 Coach Franklin managed to get 7 Virginia prospects to sign yesterday. He hasn't even coached a game in Blacksburg yet, imagine what his recruiting class will look like next year?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Virginia is holding up quite well themselves:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Between Franklin's arrival and Tony Elliot's masterful job at UVA this is a win if you are like me and want to see the top recruits stay in state. Coach Elliot was able to flip [player_tooltip player_id='1297952' first='Luke' last='Hatfield'] out of Battlefield High School who had long been linked with UCONN. Jim Mora's departure to Colorado State might of influence Hatfield's decision but the truth is this young man is and always has been a Power 4 prospect. Also in the fold for UVA are [player_tooltip player_id='212460' first='Jayden' last='Covil'], [player_tooltip player_id='1297585' first='DaMari' last='Carter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='402770' first='JaySean' last='Richardson'], each in our top 50 signed their Letters of intent.
