Expert Analysis

Adequate height and good size, expect to continue to grow into a solid/good height. Good athletic ability with very good explosiveness, balance, and hand quickness. Good acceleration, flexibility, foot quickness, lateral agility, change of direction, and solid speed. Explosive first step creating good up-field burst. Very good use of hands showing very good strength and explosiveness allowing him to execute his will versus offensive linemen and split double teams. Very good against the run, showing good lateral movement to defend his gap and move down the line with very good grip strength to grab and tackle ball carriers. Good power pass rush to push the depth of the pocket affecting QB’s ability to step up. Shows a rip and spin move in his pass rush, with good bend to dip around the offensive lineman. Overall, a good player who has D1 ability to play at the next level. He lived up to his top defensive line ranking from us in the class of ’26.

Last year I told you to expect Richardson to get offers when his sophomore season completed and I was correct. Since we last spoke about our top defensive lineman he has picked over 10 FBS offers and counting. Virginia Tech, West Virginia, East Carolina and Old Dominion are a few of many who have pulled the trigger for Varina’s superstar. The first team all-metro linemen is quietly emerging as a top star in all of Virginia.
He did not disappoint in his sophomore campaign notching 86 tackles and 6 sacks. Richardson is very quick and explosive off the snap, it makes sense that he had 24 tackles for losses, just a wrecking ball from play to play.

Richardson is a very nimble fast moving defensive tackle for the Varina Blue Devils, even notching a scope and score touchdown last season. A second team all region selection last season, Richardson has a chance to be one of the best defensive lineman in the state this fall. Standing at 6’0 285 lbs. if you do not lock him up right off the snap, chances are he will be disrupting the play in the backfield. The interest in this rising sophomore is starting to grow with visits set for Virginia Tech and North Carolina upcoming, do not be surprised if FBS schools start offering him son.
