The 2025 Warren Cousino team was incredibly talented. A boatload of explosive skill players, and a great scheme + coaching staff able to get the most out of their talent. Last night, Cousino ran into an excellent Groves program. Although Cousino's season is over, I came away incredibly impressed with a few of their players.

#1 had a really good day. It was his final high school football game, but I hope Kameran is proud to have left it all on the field. As a receiver, Kameran was able to consistently beat man coverage, and he got open downfield more than a few times. On one occasion, Kameran fully laid out to convert an extremely important first down. Additionally, Kameran had a great day on he defensive side of the ball.
All in all, a super competitive, well-rounded football player. Can't wait to see what he accomplishes at GVSU.

I went into last night's game looking forward to getting a close look at Carmelo. During warm-ups, Carmelo's height and length stood out. Around 6'2", with a good build. In-game, I was impressed with his getoff and motor.

The thing is, Groves consistently ran away from Carmelo. Perhaps they watched his 4-tackle, 1 FF game last week against Seaholm. I didn't see Carmelo post a ton of tackles, but that's simply because Groves seemed to run opposite of him.

What a gem of a receiver.

A Junior who stepped up big game and made several explosive plays for the Cousino offense. Excellent in space. Releasing from the slot, there was a play where Julian ran a ≈5-yard stick route, caught the pass, quickly spun out of a tackle, earning several yards after catch. That play in particular reminded me a lot of Amon-Ra St. Brown for the Lions. Not as much of a bruiser as Amon-Ra, but similarly super smart and explosive in the open field.

Next season, Julian should fill the shoes of some of these standout seniors. Truly excellent high school football player in the open field.

Man, I was impressed with Daniel's all-around game.

Efficient is the first word that comes to mind. I'll be up front and say that Groves consistently won at the line of scrimmage, and it was tough sledding at times for Daniel. Though, Daniel did an excellent job of running through arm tackles and making guys miss. Even when Daniel was smothered, he was almost always able to fall forward and gain positive yardage. I can't tell you how many plays I thought Daniel was stopped for no gain, only for Daniel to fight for a couple of yards.

Daniel has a ton to be proud of. He left it all out on the field and had a sensational high school football career.

High-upside offensive tackle. About 6'2", amazing frame, but some room to continue filling out that great frame. Additionally, I was impressed with what I saw from an athletic standpoint.

On the field, I thought Tabari played a good game. He did a solid job in the run game, consistently getting to his spots and being a big obstacle for an opposing defender. Tabari's pass sets were also promising. A consistent, balanced kickstep, and hands up and ready to block. All-around, I'd love to see better polish against speed rushers and consistent whistle-to-whistle effort in the run game. Tabari is one offseason away from becoming a great college prospect.
